Want to save some memories for later to cherish when FaceTiming with someone from your iPhone or iPad? FaceTime enables you to communicate with your family and friends over video or audio calls. FaceTime is available for Apple users only so you must have an iPhone, iPad, or Mac to be able to FaceTime.
If you wish to capture some moments then there are no third-party apps that need to be installed. Apple has a screen recording feature available on their iPhone and iPad devices. With some quick instructions, you will be able to record FaceTime calls on iPhone and iPad.
Please Note: Recording video calls/chats and phone calls may not be legal in all countries or regions. You must check the law of your area before going ahead with the recording. It is important and also polite that you take the consent of the participant(s) before recording the call.
Steps to Record FaceTime Calls on iPhone and iPad
The steps to record a FaceTime call are the same for iPhone and iPad. Before you can actually record the FaceTime call screen you must ensure that the feature has been enabled in the device that you are using.
Here is how you can enable screen recording:
Go to Settings on your iPhone or iPad
Scroll down to locate Control Centre and tap on it
Next tap on Customize Controls
Scroll to locate Screen Recording which is under More Controls and then tap on the + icon. Doing this will add the screen recorder to the Control Centre of your device under the Include section which is just above the More Controls section
This will have activated the screen recording feature.
Record FaceTime Calls:
Open the FaceTime app on your device.
Tap on the person you wish to connect with on FaceTime.
When the call begins, take permission from the participant(s) whether or not they are fine with you recording the call. Once you have their permission you can go ahead with the recording.
Swipe down to access the Control Centre and tap on the Screen Recording icon.
Once you turn on the screen recording feature, the recording will begin after three seconds. Exit the Control Centre and resume your call.
You will be able to see that the FaceTime call is being recorded. You will be able to see a small recording icon on the top-left corner of the screen.
When you want to stop the recording then tap on this icon. You will be prompted to Stop – confirm your action by tapping on it. This will end the screen recording.
The FaceTime call that you recorded will be available in the stock Photos app on your iPhone or iPad device whichever you are using.
Remember, that recording a FaceTime call will just record the video not the audio. This is probably because Apple has to follow the rules and regulations of wire-tapping and copyright laws of all the countries/states/regions. If you wish to record the audio then you can simply long-press the record icon present in the Control Centre. Even recording audio calls is considered illegal in several regions unless you have legal permission.
Mac owners can also record the calls on FaceTime. You must get the consent of participants before you go ahead with recording the call – audio or video.
