REDMI Note 17 5G Launched in India With 8,000mAh Battery, Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 and HyperOS 3

Xiaomi’s sub-brand REDMI has officially launched the REDMI Note 17 5G in India, with a massive 8,000mAh battery, a large AMOLED display, and the latest HyperOS 3 software for the mid-range smartphone segment. The device, which recently debuted in China, arrives with the same core specifications and will go on sale in India starting August 12 through Amazon and the Xiaomi India online store.

The REDMI Note 17 5G features a 6.9-inch Full-HD+ TrueColour AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, up to 1,800 nits peak brightness, 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut, Gorilla Glass 7i protection, and HydroTouch 2.0 technology for improved touch response even with wet fingers. The device runs on HyperOS 3 based on Android 16, Xiaomi has also promised four years of Android OS upgrades and six years of security updates.

The device is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 chipset built on a 4nm process, paired with 6GB or 8GB LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.2 storage, which is expandable up to 2TB via a microSD card. The phone also includes a vapour chamber cooling system with a large graphite heat dissipation area and carries an IP65 rating for dust and water resistance.

For photography, the REDMI Note 17 5G is equipped with a 50MP primary rear camera accompanied by a secondary sensor, and the selfie camera has 8MP sufficient for selfies and video calls. Both cameras support Full HD video recording. However, the key highlight is the 8,000mAh battery, which supports 45W fast charging and 22.5W reverse wired charging. Xiaomi claims the battery can deliver up to 2.5 days of usage on a single charge.

The REDMI Note 17 5G starts at ₹27,999 for the 6GB + 128GB variant, while the 8GB + 128GB model is priced at ₹30,999. Buyers can also avail of an instant ₹3,000 discount using SBI, Axis Bank, or Kotak credit cards. The smartphone is available in Arctic Blue, Dark Night, and Starlight Purple colour options.
