Well, if so, we have got the solution for you that will make your mobile look more appealing and attractive as per your choice. Whether you are using an Android mobile or an iOS device, we have got the solution for you. Here, we will take you through a step-by-side guide on how to change the color of your app icons. It will provide a guide for both Android and iOS operating systems.
How to change The color of your app
You must follow a different set of steps for Android and iOS. So, here they are:
For Android
There are some cases, especially with the newest Android versions, where the system allows you to modify the icon color and look.
Then there are third-party apps, where you can do almost anything you would like to the apps.
Here are the different ways and steps for changing the color of an app icon for Android users:
Solution 1: You can use a feature called Themed icons
To turn Themed icons on, go to your app’s Settings.
Then go to Wallpaper & style
Search for Themed icons
Keep in mind this will change the color of only some apps. For example, Google apps like Chrome, YouTube, Camera, Play Store, Gmail, etc.
Solution 2: Using the customization
The second way to change the app color involves some customization work. It works through a set of 2 color options: wallpaper and Basic colors.
- To pick a color for your Google apps, go to your app’s Settings.
- Select Wallpaper & style
- Choose either Basic colors or Wallpaper colors
Solution 3: Using third-party apps
There are various third-party apps or theme launchers that you can use to change the color. These apps can entirely customize your phone. The customization depends on what you wish. Some examples are DuckDuckGo Browser, Apex Launcher, Nova Launcher, or AIO Launcher.
For iPhones and iPads
Even though iOS doesn’t offer that much versatility and functionality that Android does, there’s still a great built-in option for changing every app’s color. There’s an app called Shortcut. This app is already downloaded on iOS 14.
But, you need to download the app from Apple Store, in case you have an older version of iOS. After downloading it, follow these steps:
Open the Shortcut app
On the top right corner, there’s a + sign. Tap it
The New Shortcut screen will come up. Tap Add Action
Now search for Open app in the search bar and then tap it
Next, a New Shortcut page will come up. Tap Choose. Now, you’re on the Choose App screen. Once here, scroll through the page and find the desired app whose color you want to change.
Next, you will return to the New Shortcut screen. There the app’s name will appear. Tap the three-dot menu.
Now you’re on the Details page. Once there, tap in the Shortcut Name bar and rename your selected app.
Then, tap the app’s icon on the Details screen
This will take you to the icon page. Here you will tap Color to select one of 15 colors for your app. (The other thing on this page, Glyph, changes the app’s icon).
Tap Done to save your changes
Conclusion
The top-selling smartphone’s operating system, Android, is undeniably much more customizable than iOS. But there is a setback. Not all Android mobiles can customize apps, like the ones manufactured by Google. While some apps can’t be modified on Android phones, such as Spotify, the green and black color, others ensure easy modification. iOS is less customizable and hard to do, but with in-built apps, you can do so.
Using the options listed above, you can customize the apps on your mobile as per your choice. Just follow the steps and set the theme or color you desire and you are ready to use it easily.
