Google’s Digital Wellbeing app on Android may soon pick up support to detect coughs and snores during a sleep period, as per reports from 9to5Google, who spotted this feature in the latest beta version of the app.
As per their findings, the new addition will be set into the Bedtime Mode of the Digital Wellbeing app, where users should manually enable it to be tracking their coughs and snores. This will then be presented in an intuitive graphical manner, like the one we’re having now with app screen time.
Digital Wellbeing New Feature
One of the best Android apps Google produced in recent years is the Digital Wellbeing service – that’ll let you track your screen usage over time and provide even more detailed information on how much time you’re spending on each app or website.
This service also has tools for restricting a certain app’s usage by setting a timer for yourself and for kids if you’re the parent. Now, Digital Wellbeing is getting a new support – Cough and Snore Detection – to track your coughs and snores during your sleep time.
As spotted by 9to5Google in their dig into the latest beta version of the Digital Wellbeing app, this option is available in the Bedtime Mode and should be enabled manually to be started. That’s it. It’ll start using the microphone access given to the Google Phone app for recording the number of times you’ve coughed and snored during your sleep.
This data will then be presented in an interactive graphical format in the Digital Wellbeing app, similar to how we see stats on app screen times. You can find curated data like the “Average cough count” and “Average time snoring” to make it more comprehensive.
