Following this step by step guide will walk you through the process on how to enable or disable the Application Drawer on the LG G6 and G6+.

We’re starting to see a number of Android OEMs moving away from showing an Application Drawer on the Home Screen of their devices. This was made popular by Apple with the iPhone showing every single application and game you have on the screen. Android has opted for a more organized approach and implemented a drawer for all of your applications.

However, some feel that it is easier when everything is displayed on the Home Screen.

It really just boils down to a personal preference here and thankfully the LG G6 App Drawer is configurable so you can set it up exactly like you want. When I setup my T-Mobile LG G6, it asked me which version I wanted to start with. So from the start, you get the choice but you could change your mind in the future. So this is why I wanted to do a quick guide on how to switch from having an Application Drawer on the LG G6 to not having one, and vice versa.

LG G6 App Drawer

  1. Open the Settings application
  2. Tap on the Display tab at the top of the screen
  3. Tap on the Home Screen option in the View section
  4. Tap on the Select Home option toward the top
  5. Then choose if you want a Home Screen with or without the App Drawer

Ultimately, I actually prefer the Application Drawer on the Home Screen of my devices. I am a minimalist at heart and like to have things as organized as possible. I could opt for removing the LG G6 App Drawer and then going for a bunch of folders if I liked. This is actually how I had things on iOS back when I was using an iPhone. I still like to use folders when I have an Application Drawer, but I can use less folders since I don’t need a folder to throw all of my useless applications in.

Again, it really is up to you on how you go about doing this since there isn’t a right or wrong way. I like that LG is giving us the option on the LG G6 and I hope all OEMs offer this feature in the future since it is so easy to implement. So to start, we just need to launch the Settings application and then tap on the Display tab at the top right of the screen. This will present you with a number of options to choose from, but we just need to tap on the Home Screen option at the top.

LG G6 App Drawer Options
From here, you can choose if you want the App Drawer displayed ont he LG G6.

From here, your screen could look different than mine does in the video and that is because LG changes how this looks depending on which version of the Home Screen you’re using. Either way though, you should see an option toward the top labeled Select Home and that is the one you will want to tap on. From here, you’ll have three options to choose from. The regular Home option is the one where the LG G6 App Drawer is not shown on the Home Screen.

LG has an EasyHome option for those who don’t like the complexities of a traditional Home Screen (and I’ll talk about this in a future guide). The third option here is the one you want if you want the Application Drawer on the Home Screen of the LG G6. Changing to any of these options will minimize the Settings application and take you to the Home Screen with the changes you have made. Just know that you can always come back here to change it back to how it was before.
