Today, smartphones with the traditional “slab” format are commonplace – there are many models for pretty much every budget. A premium smartphone has to come with something out of the ordinary, something to set it aside from the rest of the handsets available on the market. For Samsung, it was the foldable screen that successfully did that – its premium Galaxy Fold and Galaxy Flip models are now at their third generation, presented a few days ago through the 2021 edition of Galaxy UNPACKED.
Here are the biggest announcements made about Samsung’s upcoming phones.
Experimental multi-screen
No matter if you watch videos or play your favourite slot machines at Spin Casino online, the Galaxy Z Fold 3’s screen will offer you the perfect experience. Moreover, an experimental function of the handset will allow you to do both: run a slot machine on one half of the screen and enjoy a music video or – why not – another casino game on the other one. A new setting in Samsung’s operating system will allow you to run a game at Spin Casino in your browser and another one of your choosing in parallel, even if neither of the apps is designed to function this way.
Going cheaper
Foldable phones were, from the very beginning, aimed at “premium” audiences both through their functions and their price tags. The Galaxy Z Fold 3 continues this “tradition” with its $1800 recommended retail price. The newly announced Galaxy Z Flip 3, in turn, has become more affordable for the average buyer, too, with a price tag of under $1000. The current models are selling for a price around $1200-$1300 on Amazon and other retailers – the new model will finally launch at a much friendlier price, though.
An unmistakable screen
The Galaxy Z Fold 3 has a premium price for a reason – it also comes with flagship specs and an unmistakable screen. Under its hood, you’ll find a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC with loads of RAM and storage space, taking care of all your computing needs on the go, plus support for the S Pen for precision interaction.
The screen is one of the handset’s most recognizable features, though. The Galaxy Z Fold 3 comes with an adaptive 120Hz refresh rate, offering unparalleled performance in any app. Moreover, the cover screen (on the outside of the device) also has the same performance. To make things even more interesting, the phone also comes with an under-display selfie camera, getting rid of the notch for good.
The new Galaxy Watch
Finally, let’s spare a thought to the new and improved Galaxy Watch 4 that is, once again, unique: instead of boasting Samsung’s own Tizen operating system, it combines the best of both worlds. Both the Galaxy Watch 4 and the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic have brand new Exynos processors, and their operating systems are a product of a collaboration between Samsung and Google, combining the best features of Tizen and Wear OS.
