Unveiling a new design for it’s Spaces tab, Twitter today announced the addition of Podcasts to it’s platform. This will be available to a group of global English-speaking audiences on both it’s mobile clients.
Based on whom the users are following and the internal themes, you will be suggested spaces and podcasts for listening. Also, the redesigned Spaces hub will categorize the content based on different topics to make it easier for the users.
Podcasts in Twitter
Twitter is expanding the scope of it’s audio division on it’s platform – with today’s official launch of Podcasts. This was inducted into the redesigned section of Spaces, which is Twitter’s clone for Clubhouse.
good news, today we’re starting to test a new Spaces Tab
even better news, it includes podcasts, themed audio stations, and (of course) recorded + live Spaces pic.twitter.com/TGS2aVsUI1

“Integrating podcasts into Spaces, where audio conversations happen on Twitter, is another way we’re continuing to invest in audio creators,” Twitter said in a blog post.
The redesigned Spaces hub automatically categorizes the showable content based on different topics, like news, music, sports, etc. – for easy finding to the users. And these recommendations (including the podcasts) will be based on the themes and people you follow on Twitter.
Aside from Podcasts, this section will also house the live and recorded Spaces based on your following and personalized interests. While listening to any of them, you can express your feedback by hitting thumbs up or thumbs down to let Twitter know about your experience. This way, Twitter will make sure to suggest the best content possible from next time onwards.
Twitter adding podcasts to it’s platform isn’t a surprise, as it’s been working on it for the last couple of months. But contrary to our expectation of giving it a dedicated tab, it was stuffed into the Spaces tab. Yet, it’s good.
This will be initially available to English-speaking audiences on both Twitter iOS and Android clients, but there’s no word on the desktop version. And when asked about it, a Twitter spokesperson said they’ll build out the feature in the near future based on the feedback from this initial test.
