WhatsApp

WhatsApp is among the most used messaging app with over two billion active daily users. It is the go-to platform for many users when communicating whether for business purposes or for a general and casual chit chat with friends and family.

The Meta-owned messaging platform has been adding many new features over the past two years to make the user’s experience better and to match the features offered by some of it’s competitors.

Still, WhatsApp lacks some features that are available on other messaging apps. To overcome this, the app is now mass rolling out message reaction features for all users globally. Last year, the messaging app started working on the message reaction feature. Earlier this year the app started testing the feature with a limited number of beta testers. Now the feature is rolling out widely for all users on both beta and stable builds of the app.

WhatsApp Message reaction feature:

Meta CEO and founder Mark Zuckerberg posted on Facebook that message reaction features are finally available for all users and every user worldwide will get this feature from May 6th, 2022.

To get this feature every user first needs to update their WhatsApp app on all platforms. Users who are already on the latest version of the app on Windows, macOS, iOS, iPadOS, and Android can use this feature. However, the feature is just starting to roll out, it is a staged rollout which means every user will get the feature but not at the same time. It means that some users will get the feature in the coming days and some will get it maybe after weeks. At the writing of this piece, I don’t have this feature available on my Android app even after I have already updated my app to the latest version. So if you don’t get this feature just be patient and wait a little bit. It will soon reach your app.

There are only six emojis available now for the message reaction but soon the platform will add more emojis as reported previously. These six are the basic and common emojis such as Red Heart, Thumbs Up, Face with Tears of Joy, crying face folded hands, and face with open mouth.

If the feature is available for you then you can use it by long-pressing the message in both group and private chat and then selecting your desired emoji out of the six available.
