After multiple leaks and teasers, Xiaomi finally unveiled it’s Xiaomi 13 Ultra at an event in China on Tuesday. At the event, Xiaomi also unveiled it’s Mi Band 8 and Mi Band 6 but we will talk about the smartphone in this article.
Xiaomi 13 Ultra is the true flagship from Xiaomi with top-of-the-line specifications and a great camera system. The device comes as a result of the strategic partnership between Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi and German lens manufacturer Leica. Both these companies indulge in joining hands to take mobile photography to the next level. Xiaomi 13 Ultra specifications:
The device takes inspiration from it’s predecessor as it comes with a premium metal build with a big circular camera module on the rear side that houses the quad-camera setup. The device’s rear panel is covered with leather giving it a more premium look and it feels comfortable to hold.
On the front, the Xiaomi 13 ultra comes with a 7.73-inch AMOLED WQHD+ display with a pixel resolution of 3200 x 1440 pixels. The display supports a 120Hz fast adaptive refresh rate, a touch sampling rate of 240Hz and a peak brightness of 2600 nits in broad daylight. There is also the support of 1920Hz PWM dimming, HDR10+ and Dolby vision and it is protected by Gorilla Glass victus.
It is one of the most powerful Android smartphones on the market due to it’s internal specifications. It comes with the flagship-grade Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset based on 4nm fabrication along with an Adreno 740 GPU. It is the most powerful Android chipset right now on the market. The chipset is paired with up to 16GB of LPDDR5x RAM, and up to 1TB of UFS 4.0 internal storage. The device comes in multiple storage configurations, that includes a 12GB + 256GB, 16GB + 512GB, and 16GB + 1TB, which is the top-of-the-line variant.
The main USP of the device is it’s camera system. The device comes with a Leica-branded quad-camera setup on the rear side. There is a 50MP 1-inch SONY IMX989 primary sensor paired with 50MP Sony IMX858 ultra-wide lens, telephoto lens and super-telephoto lens. For selfies and video calls, there is a 32MP front camera housed in a center punch-hole cutout at the top center of the display.
Xiaomi 13 Ultra is equipped with a 5000 mAh battery that supports 90W turbo wired charging, 50W wireless charging and reverse wireless charging. The device comes with Xiaomi’s Surge P2 charging chip and Surge G1 battery management chip as well. On the software front, there is an MIUI 14 custom skin on top of Android 13 out of the box.
Pricing:
It is a flagship device but Xiaomi keeps the pricing aggressive as it is directly competing with the Samsung Galaxy S23 series and iPhone 14 series.
The base variant 12GB + 256GB is priced at CNY 5,999, the 16GB + 512GB storage variant is priced at CNY 6499, and the higher end 16GB + 1TB storage variant is priced at CNY 7299. The device is only launched for the Chinese market as of now and the global launch and pricing are unclear at the moment.
