Action Blocked

If you are reading this blog post, then that means that you have encountered the Action blocked message on Instagram. There are several reasons why Instagram sent you the Action blocked message. Whenever Instagram sends you the Action blocked message it does not allow you to like, comment, follow or DM others.

Action Blocked

Why Instagram do that? Instagram blocks your actions whenever it finds you to be misusing its services. Instagram does that to prevent people from botting and spamming. I did my research to find out what triggers Instagram to block our actions and what best practices can we adopt to prevent it from happening.

Instagram is one of the most used social media platforms worldwide. This social media platform just like Facebook allows you to post pictures and share it with your friends or with the world. You can like, comment or follow other users on Instagram.

But, when it finds out that you have been violating its guidelines or misusing any of its services, it blocks you from liking, commenting, following or posting pictures.

But, Why does Instagram chooses to block? Instagram decides to punish you for misusing its services by blocking any of your actions on Instagram.

Action Blocked

Whenever you receive an action block message then you must know that you have been temporarily blocked and you can resume posting, liking, commenting and following other users after 24 to 48 hours.

In case, you find that you did nothing wrong and want to get unblocked, you can always click on the button just below the action block message that is referred to as “Tell Us”. You can also report the same by going to your Instagram profile, settings, help and Report a problem.

Types of Action Block messages

There are different types of action block messages that Instagram prompts on misusing its services.

  • Temporarily blocked

The message “You’re Temporarily Blocked” may occur if you overdoing your actions on Instagram. Such as following different users. In such cases, Instagram blocks you for 24 hours and then you can resume liking, commenting, following people and sharing posts with your friends.

But, if you over-perform your actions, then you will be blocked again.

  • Action Blocked

As I mentioned above, after being temporarily blocked, if you perform your actions just like you were doing before getting blocked, then you will be restricted from performing any actions since your actions violated their community and to protect it Instagram blocks you for 23 hours.

  • Action blocked: Try again later

Instagram sometimes simply blocks you from performing any action without telling you when you will be unblocked. The block can last from several hours to several weeks. And believe me, these are the most annoying ones.

Instagram sends Action block message, Why?

But what made Instagram trigger an action block message. There are a lot of things that you might have done that got Instagram to block your action.

Using third-party apps

If you had no idea about it then you must know that using third-party apps for Instagram makes you violate its guidelines. Instagram can easily detect when a bot or such third-party apps is making use of your Instagram profile.

So, if you tend to use a third-party app for any reason such as getting followers, then it is the only reason why Instagram blocked you from performing any action on its platform.

In case, you want to which third-party apps can help you know who saw your Instagram profile, make sure to read the article by clicking on the link below:

Type of action you are performing on Instagram

If you are someone who has a business account on Instagram, then you will relate to this. If you follow several people on daily basis and do that just to get them following you back and you don’t like or comment on their posts, then you are more likely to trigger Instagram from blocking you to perform any action further until 24 to 48 hours.

Activity you perform

If you just open Instagram for following people after every hour for 10 to 15 minutes and perform no other activity, then you are most likely to trigger the action block message on Instagram.

But, if your overall account reach is like in thousands and you keep your activity level to a minimum, then there are fewer chances of you getting caught in the middle of performing any action on Instagram.

Constantly following and unfollowing people

If you follow around 100-150 people every day and then unfollow them after a few days makes you more vulnerable to being detected by Instagram. You should always avoid doing such actions and do things to avoiding getting caught.

IP Address

Whether you are a technology enthusiast or not, you must be knowing that the IP address plays a key role whenever you perform any action over the internet. Try avoiding using more than one Instagram accounts from the same IP address.

Previous violations

If you previously ever encountered Instagram blocking your actions, then there are chances that your action limit decreases. This affects every account that you are running from your device.

Your account is too young

If your account is too young and boosts your account immediately. The newer the account, the higher are the limits.

If you boost your activity immediately, Instagram detects it to be suspicious, even if you are not making use of any third-party apps.

Copyright issue

If you are posting content of someone else, then there are higher chances of your actions getting blocked. Instagram does not allow anyone to violate the rules and post anything which is not original.

Just, for example, you are posting a piece of music without rights and permission, Instagram will take down your post immediately since it is against the copyright laws.

Posting inappropriate content

Posting inappropriate content like photos and videos with naked bodies, sexual content or any other sort of violence, then Instagram will block you from performing any action on its platform.

Always keep in check that you are not violating Instagram’s rules whenever you post a video or a picture.

Complaints

If multiple users report your account as a threat, then Instagram is likely to block your account.

How to avoid getting your actions blocked on Instagram

Avoid third-party apps

Avoid making use of third-party apps or bots. These third-party apps are not safe and I would recommend you to uninstall such apps from your devices and change your Instagram’s password.

Such tools perform actions on your Instagram without you knowing which can lead you to get blocked from performing any actions on Instagram.

Stop following multiple users

Stop using your strategy of following people after every hour or so. This strategy of yours will make you look suspicious and will get your actions blocked.

If you continue to follow this strategy for straight 15 to 20 days, Instagram will send you the message of the action block. By following this strategy you are just increasing the daily limit of performing actions. And once the limit exceeds, you get blocked.

Try to not follow the same pattern every time and every day. Try to use Instagram as a regular user would, which means mixing your actions. Liking, commenting, searching, following, etc. and not just following the same set of actions you keep doing which already made you get caught.

If you still want to follow random people, keep a limit. Try following only 30 to 50 people in a day and not at the same time.

Profile Information

Make sure that you have updated your profile information and it is 100 percent complete. The profile picture is very important if you are trying to stay away from getting your actions blocked. So, complete your profile information and insert a profile picture.

Link your Instagram account to Facebook

Instagram and Facebook are owned by the same person. Instagram sometimes mistook you to be a bot and blocks your actions. The best way to prevent that from happening is by linking your Instagram account with Facebook account.

If you don’t know how to link your Instagram account to Facebook account then follow the step by step guide mentioned below.

Step 1: Launch the Instagram app.

Step 2: Go to your Instagram profile and click on the Three-line icon on the top right corner.

Step 3: From there click on settings and go to account.

Step 4: Within account settings, you will find the Linked accounts option. Click on it and select Facebook.

Why Linking Instagram with Facebook?

Linking your Instagram account will prevent you from looking at anything as a bot, or spam.
