Apple iPhone SE 4 might come with a taller 6.1-inch IPS LCD display with a notch at the top for a selfie camera and Face ID sensors, as per the latest reports. Last month, Apple launched it’s much-awaited iPhone 14 series, which included four devices. However, after five years, Apple has changed the front design of The Pro models, replaced the notch with a pill-shaped cutout for the selfie camera, and called it Dynamic Island.
Now, it seems like the company is working on the fourth generation of an affordable iPhone – the iPhone SE 4. There is no official confirmation from Apple about the launch of the iPhone SE 4. However, there are reports that this time, the SE device will come with a modern look that includes a taller 6.1-inch IPS LCD display and a notch at the top for the selfie camera and Face ID sensors. Previously, all three generations of iPhone SE came with the same design: large top and bottom bezels, a Touch ID at the bottom that also doubles as a fingerprint scanner, and a 4.7-inch LCD display. But this is about to change with the fourth generation of a budget iPhone.
The news comes from Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC) CEO Ross Young via Macrumors. Last year, Ross Young also predicted that iPhone SE 4 could feature a display between 5.7-inch to 6.1-inch and a punch hole cutout at the top for the selfie camera.
There are also rumors that Apple might use the iPhone XR chassis for the iPhone SE 4 as the fourth generation of an affordable iPhone will have an iPhone XR form factor. The iPhone XR was launched in 2018 along with the XS and XS max for users who want to buy affordable iPhones. It was a cheaper iPhone at that time that came with the latest chipset at a slightly affordable price. Ross Young also claims that iPhone SE 4 has similar specifications to The iPhone XR.
Furthermore, it is interesting to see whether Apple will bring other technologies like True Depth camera for the Face ID or leave it to keep the price affordable. There are rumors that the upcoming cheap iPhone will have a side-mounted touch ID like the iPad Air and iPad Mini, but nothing has been confirmed.
Apple still has not confirmed the exact launch date or the official confirmation of these details. Therefore, the above information is just rumors and leaks, so we have to wait for the official announcements to see what changes Apple has made in the upcoming budget iPhone or if we have the same design as the previous three generations.
