Toothpicks

A toothpick is known as the most helpful tool to clean your phone’s charging port. Other suggested tools are a paper clip, a SIM card pin ejector, or a thumbtack. However, it isn’t the ideal tool for the job. It is because there are some delicate parts inside the port, and using a sharp invasive metal and pin can damage the charging port.

Piece of Cotton

You can roll up a small amount of cotton on the toothpick’s sharp tip. It should be enough to fit in your phone’s charging port. It can be helpful in cleaning and protecting the delicate parts from getting damaged while cleaning. However, it is not essential to have a piece of cotton, but it can be helpful to clean precisely.

Flashlight

In order to get a complete and cautious cleaning, you can always get a flashlight so that you can see what’s inside the port while cleaning. Moreover, it is also helpful to get a clear idea about what you’ve cleaned and what’s left inside.

Steps to Clean iPhone Charging Port

While cleaning your iPhone’s charging port, you need to be highly cautious. There are small lightning pins inside the port that can’t be seen. You need to avoid damaging them. Otherwise, you may need to get your charging port replaced or buy a new phone.

Here are the steps you need to follow:

Step 1:

Turn off your iPhone. Long Press the power button to turn it off.

Step 2:

If you are using a small piece of cotton, apply it to the toothpick by placing it on flat cotton. Twist the tip of the toothpick on the cotton until it wraps some cotton on its tip.

Step 3:

Hold your phone with the rear back facing up, and gently put the tip of the toothpick inside the charging port.

Step 4:

Scrape the toothpick gently against the back or side of the charging port.

Step 5:

Repeat steps 1 & 4 until all the deposit has been removed from the port. Use a flashlight to check if there is any junk left inside the charging port.
