iQOO 16 Tipped to Debut with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro, 165Hz 2K Display

iQOO is already developing its next flagship line-up, the iQOO 16 Series. The series may contain two smartphones, the iQOO 16 and the iQOO 16 Ultra. Thanks to fresh leaks from well-known Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station, the iQOO 16 could be powered by the next-generation Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chipset, built on TSMC’s advanced 2nm process technology.

While a shift to 2nm manufacturing sounds like a massive leap, early reports suggest that CPU performance gains may be relatively small. The chipset is said to deliver less than a 20% improvement in CPU performance compared to its predecessor, which may disappoint users expecting a dramatic boost. However, the real advancements appear to lie elsewhere.

The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro is rumored to feature a significantly upgraded Adreno 850 GPU, promising better graphics performance and improved gaming experiences. In addition, the new chip will have support for LPDDR6 memory, indicating a stronger focus on AI processing, multitasking efficiency, and overall system responsiveness rather than just raw CPU power.

On the display front, just like its predecessor, the iQOO 16 is expected to push boundaries with a top-tier Samsung 2K panel. The screen will likely support an ultra-high refresh rate of up to 165Hz, offering smoother scrolling, enhanced gaming visuals, and a more fluid user experience overall. This combination of high resolution and refresh rate could make the device stand out in the flagship segment.
