Samsung, the largest smartphone maker is reducing it’s smartphone production target in 2022 as per the news information reported by South Korean Publication – Maeil Business News (via SamMobile). As per the publication, Samsung will reduce it’s smartphone production by 30 million in 2022.

As per sources familiar with this matter, this step is taken by Samsung due to rising inflation, Russia – Ukraine War, reduced customer spending, Global chip shortages, and supply chain issues. The company plan to reduce the production of all it’s Galaxy smartphones from entry-level to flagship devices.

The South Korean Conglomerate initially set the target of 310 million smartphones in 2022 which is now reduced to 280 million – a 30 million less than the originally planned target.

Now, it also seems that the smartphone maker has to change it’s financial targets due to a cut down in smartphone production. Samsung has previously had a record-breaking first three months of 2022 in terms of revenue as well as in terms of smartphone shipments. The company shipped nearly 73.7 million smartphones globally in the first three months of this year.

A lot has changed since the global pandemic and there is a negative effect on companies worldwide. It appears like it takes a year or two to get everything back to normal. Samsung is not the only company that has been affected severely, Apple has also reduced the production of it’s iPhone SE 2022 model by nearly 20 percent due to the customer’s low interest in the device.

There are some reports that this year the South Korean Smartphone maker is producing more foldable than ever before due to customers’ interest in the new form factor. So it seems like the company will produce more smartphones than in 2021 but will produce fewer smartphones than what is planned at the start of the year. There is no official confirmation from the company yet so let’s wait to know the actual figure of smartphones shipped by the company at the end of the year.
