In 2022, the world has moved online. We’re reliant on the internet to work, to connect, and to keep ourselves entertained. We also – importantly – use it to shop.

According to the numbers, there were nearly four trillion of us buying online in 2020, and that figure has only continued to grow since. Given another year, statistics suggest that 22 percent of global retail purchases will be made via this medium.

These numbers are enough to make any retailer sit up and think. What they demonstrate – in the clearest possible way – is the importance of your online audience, but not everyone is making the most of these modern-day shoppers.

For those who aren’t capitalizing on the opportunities they present, what’s most likely needed is an SEO overhaul. In this article, we look at three easy ways to achieve this.

What is SEO?

SEO, aka search engine optimization, is the practice of making it easier for search engine users to find you. Given this is where a large portion of your audience can be found, you want to make it super simple for them to locate you online. The best way to do this is by ranking highly for “keywords” relevant to your business and products on Google and other search engines as well as off page SEO optimization through which you can find the services from Searcharoo quite useful.

Here’s how to do it.

1. Improve your page loading speed

Did you know slow-loading pages can damage your rankings on Google? A lot of online retailers don’t, but addressing this is an easy way to boost your SEO. It also encourages visitors to stick around, as 40 percent of people will abandon a page that takes over three seconds to appear on their screen.

Luckily, there are plenty of online services that allow you to test your speed for free. If this comes back as less than optimal, there are several simple solutions, from removing or replacing problematic plugins to upgrading to a new web hosting provider with a faster server.

2. Optimize your images

When we think of SEO, we think of a site’s written content, but this isn’t all that should be optimized. Pictures and other images must be treated with the same attention to SEO detail as blog posts and landing pages. This way, they can help improve your rankings.

File size is one important factor to consider. Larger images are likely to slow down page loading times. We’ve already discussed why this is problematic above. To easily solve this issue, either resize or compress your images.

You might also want to spare a thought for how you name files. This can be a great way to sneak in some extra keywords. Let’s use this Buzz Bingo bonus code page as an example. On it are three icons. Rather than labeling the first of these “picture one”, the site could instead name it “bingo welcome offer” as a way to boost their SEO and draw interested parties to their offerings. Outside of SEO, it’s not uncommon in the online casino industry to offer various bonus offers, considering how competitive the scene is.

3. Add videos

As we touched on earlier, SEO isn’t only about written content. To improve your search rankings, it’s a good idea to add video content too. There are several reasons for this.

Firstly, videos improve the user experience. People often prefer having something explained to them via an easy-to-watch video over having to read through a wall of text. The more they like your site and how it handles content, the more likely they are to return.

Secondly, and more importantly, browsers will stay on a page for longer if it includes video content. This is something Google takes account of when deciding where to rank your pages in keyword searches.

When it comes to improving your SEO rankings, there are lots of ways to do this outside of the obvious ones. We’ve outlined three of these above. Use them to boost your position – and by default, your profits – in 2022.
