Twitter to Dump Over 3,700 Employees Under Elon Musk

After significant changes to the Blue subscription, Elon Musk would move to cut down the Twitter workforce by 50% – as per Bloomberg.

The report states that Musk and his panel of advisors are currently preparing a list of employees to be dumped, with an official announcement on this coming late this week. Also, Musk may end Twitter’s work-from-home policy, too, forcing everyone to come to the office.

Workforce Cutdown at Twitter

Last week, Elon Musk dismissed the reports of cutting down 75% of the Twitter workforce on his arrival. But he affirmed that he’d lay off a significant portion of the staff to save up costs. And as per Bloomberg, this number could be as significant as 50% – representing over 3,700 employees.

An official announcement of this grand layoff is yet to be made and is expected late this week. Musk is reportedly sitting with his advisors to make a list of employees for cutdown and may include all the levels in it, with a severance pay of 2 months’ salary.

It’s said that Musk’s panel will dump those who haven’t contributed directly to Twitter’s code. Aside from this, the report states that Musk may end Twitter’s work-from-home policy – forcing employees to work at the office in the most traditional way. Although, the policy may exclude some employees under certain conditions.

Employees had been preparing for such policies even before Musk took over Twitter, as they knew how he handled his companies. Earlier, Musk warned his Tesla and SpaceX employees of losing their jobs if they didn’t come to the office and spend 40 working hours a week.

He had already dismissed some of the top executives in the first week of his takeover and asked the remaining managers to prepare a list of potential layoffs in the next phase.
