WhatsApp, the popular instant messaging app owned by Meta brings regular updates for it’s Android and iOS app. However, WhatsApp for tablets and foldables is quite dated and is not optimized for large screen devices resulting in a terrible user experience on a large screen.
But this is about to change as WhatsApp is bringing a major UI update for tablets and foldable especially on Android. Last year, Meta introduced a new companion mode for WhatsApp, allowing users to use the app on tablets more efficiently. Through this, users can also use the app on tablets, without the need for an active smartphone to run the app.
Now, the app is bringing a two-pane user interface for Tablets and foldables which makes the user experience pleasant and easy to multitask. According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp v2.23.5.9 for Android tablets launched with a tablet-optimized two-pane interface.
The two-pane interface is similar to the web version of the app where your chats will be on the left side of the app. When users tap on any chat, a message window will open on the right side of the app. This is also beneficial for multi-tasking as users can switch between chats easily without the need of going back from one chat to open a new chat just like the Android and iOS devices.
The new user interface can also use the large screen offered by Tablets, and foldable is much better than the current version of the app which stretches the interface to the edges of the tablet to adjust to a large screen.
