Those who don’t know, the previous generation Xiaomi 15 Ultra, 14 Ultra, and 13 Ultra were all equipped with a quad camera setup. This is a significant change that no one saw coming. It’s not the first time Xiaomi has launched an Ultra with a triple camera setup; we have already seen the Mi 11 Ultra and Xiaomi 12S Ultra with the same triple module.

A 1-inch sensor made in partnership with one of China’s emerging camera sensor suppliers, SmartSens, offers a wide dynamic range, better low-light photography, and a small depth of field, characteristics of professional cameras.
There is also the 200MP periscope telephoto lens. This high-end telephoto will provide breathtaking long-range magnification, without compromising on details, and it will best suit traveling, animal, or nature photography as well as a professional portrait style.
What is also projected is that Xiaomi will combine next-generation AI improvements and computational photography. Thanks to continued cooperation with Leica, the 16 Ultra will probably give a more polished, DSLR-like shooting experience – instead of spending thousands on a camera complete with interchangeable lenses, all in the palm of your hand.
