Xiaomi 17 Ultra Launched With Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and Leica-Tuned Cameras: Price, Features, and Specifications

Xiaomi has officially launched the Xiaomi 17 Ultra in China, expanding its Xiaomi 17 Series lineup. The smartphone is a successor to the Xiaomi 15 Ultra, with notable upgrades across the board, including a next-generation chipset, a larger battery, innovative cameras, and a new rotary zoom dial on the rear deco, which is a first for any smartphone.

Full Details

The Xiaomi 17 Ultra features a 6.9-inch flat display. This display of the 17 Pro Max adopts the industry’s first Real RGB screen structure, which makes the display resolution equivalent to a 2K resolution. The device also debuts the new Xiaomi Longjing glass 3. Despite housing a massive battery, the phone maintains a slim in-hand feel, with a thickness of 8.29mm and a weight of 224 grams.

Just like its other siblings, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, built on an advanced 3nm process. Paired with an Adreno 840 GPU, up to 16GB LPDDR5x RAM, and 1TB UFS 4.1 storage. The phone runs Android 16-based HyperOS 3, offering a refined and fluid user experience.

However, the most highlighted feature of the Xiaomi 17 Ultra is its imaging capabilities. The Xiaomi 17 Ultra features a Leica-tuned triple rear camera setup, with a 50-megapixel LOFIC Light Hunter 1050L primary sensor with a 1-inch sensor size and OIS. It is accompanied by a 50-megapixel Samsung JN5 ultra-wide camera and a powerful 200-megapixel periscope telephoto lens, supporting 3.2x to 4.3x continuous optical zoom. There is also a unique rotary zoom dial on the back that enhances manual control and shooting precision. For selfies, the phone packs a 50-megapixel OV50M front camera, and it supports up to 4K video recording.

The Xiaomi 17 Ultra is also a major upgrade in battery capacity, featuring a large 6,800mAh battery, backed by 90W wired and 50W wireless fast charging. The device also boasts IP66, IP68, and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance, along with a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint sensor for enhanced security.

Pricing

The Xiaomi 17 Ultra price starts at CNY 6,999 (around Rs. 90,000) for the 12GB RAM + 512GB storage variant. The 16GB + 512GB configuration costs CNY 7,499 (roughly Rs. 96,000), while the top-end 16GB + 1TB model is priced at CNY 8,499 (about Rs. 1,09,000).

Xiaomi has also introduced a special Xiaomi 17 Ultra Leica Edition, priced at CNY 7,999 (around Rs. 1,02,000) for the 16GB + 512GB variant and CNY 8,999 (approximately Rs. 1,15,000) for the 16GB + 1TB version. The Leica Edition ships in Black and Off White shades.

The smartphone will go on sale in China starting December 27 via the Xiaomi online store. Standard color options include Black, White, Cold Smoky Purple, and Starry Green.
