Xiaomi 17 Ultra Leica Leitzphone Edition Spotted in GSMA Database

The competition in the camera-centric flagship smartphone market is becoming more and more aggressive with the launch of Vivo X300 Pro and Oppo Find X9 Pro. Xiaomi is also preparing to rival all these with its upcoming Xiaomi 17 Ultra smartphone, which is said to take the partnership with German optics legend Leica to a whole new level. While the standard Xiaomi 17 Ultra has already been in tech leaks for weeks, surprising new details have emerged, suggesting that Xiaomi is gearing up for a far more premium offering. A fresh entry in the IMEI and GSMA databases confirms the existence of an exclusive “Leica Leitzphone powered by Xiaomi,” pointing to an ultra-luxurious photography-focused special edition.

The first variant of Xiaomi 17 Ultra was earlier spotted with the model number 2512BPNDAG. Internally codenamed “P1”, this device is expected to serve as the standard Xiaomi 17 Ultra. However, now there is another second model number, 25128PNA1G, with the codename “P1S”. The “S” is widely speculated to represent “Special,” hinting at a premium, limited-edition variant. GSMA listings explicitly refer to this model as “Leica Leitzphone powered by Xiaomi”, a naming scheme that strongly suggests it will merge Leica’s iconic Leitzphone branding with Xiaomi’s cutting-edge smartphone engineering.

This could potentially mean official marketing names like Xiaomi 17 Ultra Leica Edition or the even more exclusive Xiaomi 17 Ultra Leica Leitzphone Edition is possible.

Xiaomi 17 Ultra Details

Since the imaging is the main highlight of this smartphone, let’s start with the camera specifications. Xiaomi 17 Ultra has undergone major changes in its optics. The smartphone will feature a triple camera setup with a brand new 50MP 1-inch type Omnivision OV50X sensor. Complementing this massive main camera is the industry’s first 200MP 1/1.4 inch sensor, continuous optical zoom with a cutting-edge multigroup periscope solution, and a 50MP JN5 ultrawide camera. The selfie camera is also an upgraded 50MP OV50M sensor.

The 17 Ultra’s display is also a major change compared to the previous generation 15U, featuring a 6.9-inch 2K flat display. However, this display will have brand new technologies such as Real RGB OLED.

The battery capacity is also getting a major upgrade, featuring 6800mAh capacity, which is an incremental upgrade from Xiaomi 15 Ultra’s 6000mAh capacity. This will be paired with 100W fast wired and 80W wireless charging.
