Xiaomi is in full swing for development of the Xiaomi 18 Series. The brand is preparing a camera focused upgrade for its upcoming flagship smartphone, the Xiaomi 18. According to well-known tipster Digital Chat Station, the device is expected to feature a 7200mAh battery, marking a small increase over the Xiaomi 17’s 7000mAh battery capacity.
While the battery upgrade appears modest, the reason behind it could be Xiaomi’s focus on improving camera hardware. Reports suggest that the vanilla Xiaomi 18 will receive a significant imaging upgrade, featuring a powerful triple-camera setup with two 200MP sensors. The smartphone is expected to come with a 200MP primary camera, a 200MP periscope telephoto camera, and a 50MP ultrawide lens.
This would represent a massive leap compared to the previous-generation Xiaomi 17, which featured a 50MP main camera, a 50MP telephoto sensor, and a 50MP ultrawide camera. The addition of dual 200MP cameras indicates that Xiaomi is aiming to position the Xiaomi 18 as a strong competitor in the premium smartphone photography segment.
The larger camera sensors and advanced imaging hardware could require more power, which may explain why Xiaomi is balancing the battery capacity increase with other internal upgrades. Instead of pushing for a much larger battery, the company appears to be prioritizing camera performance while maintaining strong battery endurance.
Xiaomi 18 Series will debut with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Series processor which will be launched in September.
