Just a couple of days after acquiring his favorite social media platform, Elon Musk is tuning Twitter more wildly than expected.
As per reports, Musk ordered that a new version of Twitter Blue be introduced, which is mandatory for verified accounts to keep their badges alive. Also, there are reports of mass layoffs at Twitter prevailing actively.
Twitter Blue Subscription
After changing the homepage for logout users, Elon Musk has now revamped the Twitter Blue subscription. Citing an internal correspondent, The Verge reported that Elon Musk is hiking Twitter’s Blue subscription price to $19.99 a month, up by 4x from the current price of $4.99 a month.
To the unknown, a Twitter Blue subscription will let users read ad-free articles from select outlets, customize their app’s appearance, test new features earlier than others, etc. This was introduced a year ago and is optional for users.
But soon, this subscription could be mandatory for all verified accounts if they want to keep their verified badges live. It’s reported that Musk has ordered his Twitter employees to come up with a revamped Blue subscription by November 7th, or else they’d be fired!
He had already fired the top executives of Twitter right after acquiring it and even confirmed laying off some employees soon. The exact number and designations are not known yet, as the managers are still in the process of preparing the list.
Twitter employees are already said to be working late nights and weekends ever since Elon Musk took over. And this new project will surely overburden them – all in the hope of keeping their jobs on the platform.
