Snapchat brings Director Mode on the app for editing videos. Director Mode is the most advanced and powerful video editing tool. The feature is available to all iOS users globally and a limited number of Android users in some countries. It will be available to all Android users globally in the coming months.

Snapchat shared a sneak peek of Director Mode six months ago, and finally, the feature is available for iOS users now. Users will get new features for editing and filming videos using the Director Mode, and some of these features are already available on other popular social media apps. The feature also includes a Green Screen, similar to a filter of the same name on TikTok. Green Screen allows users to film a video with different backgrounds of their choice. Another option in the Director Mode is the dual camera feature that will enable users to use the front and back camera of the device at the same time to capture a video or a picture. It means users can use front and back cameras at the same time and capture what is at the front and as well as on the back of the device.

Director Mode also includes a quick edit feature, allowing users to trim or merge multiple videos. Also, users can have a camera speed feature that will let users speed up or slow down a particular video. Users can access all these features with the Director Mode icon in the camera toolbar.

Users can use these features to film videos and share them with their friends. However, the primary purpose of these features is to make users use Spotlight more. Snapchat introduced spotlight – a TikTok clone, and since then, the platform has been working hard to attract more users and creators to make videos for Spotlight. Previously, the platform also started a challenge on Spotlight in which they pay cash for the top videos.

According to The Verge’s report, bringing more users to Spotlight is now it’s priority for Snapchat. CEO Even Spiegel said in an internal memo that he wants 30 percent of Snapchatters to use Spotlight every day in 2023. The company also recently told it’s investors that engagement on Stories was down and it laid off 20 percent of it’s workforce.
