Previously, the app added a feature that will let user create their own stickers but that feature is only limited to the web and desktop app of the platform. Therefore, if users want to create their own custom stickers on WhatsApp mobile application, then they need to use a third-party application for that. Also, there are plenty of third-party applications to create custom stickers available on both the Play Store and the App Store.

To create custom GIFs there are also plenty of applications available but now this feature is included in the mobile application of the platform. So, users don’t need to rely on third-party applications anymore.

How to create and send GIFs on WhatsApp?

As discussed previously, this feature is baked into WhatsApp so users don’t need to use any third-party application for this.

Here’s how you can use this feature.

Open WhatsApp and select the contact whom you want to send the GIFs.

Tap on the “paper clip” icon or attachment icon in the message bar.

Top on “Gallery” and select the video which you want to send as a GIF.

Remember, as GIFs are small videos so your video won’t be longer than five seconds. If your selected video is longer than the five-second then you can trim it down to five seconds only. You have the option to trim the video in the app.

Once you trim the video to five seconds, you will see the GIFs option under the video bar on the top.

Select “GIFs” and hit the send button to send it to the other person.

You can also customize the GIFs further by adding emojis and captions if you want before sending it.

That’s it. That’s how you can use your videos to create your own custom GIFs and send them to users. You can also forward it to as many users as you want as well as you can save it to use in the future.

How to send inbuilt GIFs on messaging app?

The above method is to create and send custom GIFs. But there are also some GIFs already available in the app which you can send to your friends and family.

To send inbuilt GIFs on WhatsApp follow the steps below:

Open WhatsApp and select the chat to whom you want to send the GIFs.

Tap on the emoji icon on the message bar.

Select the GIF option at the bottom.

Choose the GIFs you want to send and hit the sent icon.
