Twitter recently announced an edit option for editing tweets. At the start, only the Twitter blue users got this feature in limited countries before the official rollout for all users globally. Editing tweet is a much-awaited and most demanding Twitter feature as almost all the social media apps have edit options for posts except for Twitter. However, there is a limit set by the microblogging site as users can only edit tweets five times in thirty minutes. Previously, there was news that the edit option will allow users to edit tweets in the first thirty minutes after posting a tweet. Now, there is news that users can edit tweets only five times.
As per the report from TechCrunch, Twitter confirmed that the new edit option will only allow five edits in a tweet in the given thirty minutes. After thirty minutes, users will not be able to edit any of their tweets. Users can edit any typing mistake, edits tags, and upload media files if they want to edit any of their tweets.
The publication also mentions that this feature will initially roll out for Twitter blue users in New Zealand only. As of now, the microblogging site is just observing the user behavior with this feature. The social media site might change the limit to edit the tweets depending on the user’s response and behavior.
After some initial testing, the feature will be released for Twitter Blue users in Australia, Canada, and the United States. The microblogging site has some concerns that this feature might be used for disinformation or scams but this could be found out when the feature is globally available for all users.
The social media site confirmed that they will launch an edit option soon and the edited tweets will be marked with an icon, label, and timestamped for other users to know that this tweet has been edited. There will also be an option for users to check the Tweet edited history and the original tweets. Another interesting feature that the users will soon get is the undo option. This option will allow users to undo or cancel any tweet within thirty seconds of posting it.
