Xiaomi Mix Fold 5 Spotted Running HyperOS 4 Ahead of Expected August Launch

Xiaomi’s next-generation foldable smartphone, the Xiaomi Mix Fold 5, has reportedly been spotted in the wild, suggesting that its official launch is just around the corner. The leaked live images suggest the device is already running HyperOS 4 based on Android 17, confirming rumors that Xiaomi is preparing to unveil the foldable as early as August 2026.

The leaked handset reportedly carries the codename “lhasa,” which has previously been linked to the Mix Fold 5. While the photos reveal very little about the hardware, they confirm software details showing HyperOS version 4.0. Xiaomi has traditionally introduced major HyperOS updates alongside new Android releases, making the Android 17-based software a strong sign that the device is nearing launch.

Unlike the upcoming Xiaomi 18 series, which is expected to debut with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 series chipset, the Mix Fold 5 is rumored to feature Xiaomi’s in-house XRING O3 processor. The new chipset is expected to deliver notable improvements in performance and power efficiency over the first-generation XRING O1, showcasing Xiaomi’s growing focus on developing its own silicon.

In terms of hardware, leaks suggest the Mix Fold 5 will feature a 7.5- to 7.6-inch foldable display with advanced seamless-crease technology, aiming to provide a smoother viewing experience. The phone is also expected to include a 200MP primary camera, making it one of the highest-resolution cameras on a foldable device.

Other peripheral features include a 6,000mAh battery with wireless charging, full water resistance, and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner for convenient unlocking.
