How to download YouTube videos on desktop browser?

YouTube is officially working on the feature that will allow users to download videos for offline viewing. This new feature is currently for premium users.

The feature is currently in an experimenting phase for all YouTube premium users. Premium users member can download any public video on the streaming site using the latest version of Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and Opera web browser.

The testing phase will work till the 19th of October after that the streaming site will decide to officially launch the feature or not. The exact launch date of this feature is not yet announced.

Currently, YouTube offers a video download option for Premium users on Android and iOS.

YouTube Video Download Feature:

It is a feature through which users can download any video if they are public on their desktop devices so that they can watch them later even without an internet connection.

If the creators made the videos private or they don’t allow the video downloading then the videos cannot be downloaded for offline viewing.

In this article, we will tell you how to download YouTube videos for offline viewing on desktop devices if you have a premium subscription.

How to download videos on a desktop browser?

This feature is only restricted to the YouTube premium users. Users can download video on any available quality i.e. 1080p, 720p, 480p, 360p and 144p.

Open YouTube and log in through your Google Account.

Visit YouTubes “Try New Experimental Features” page to avail of this feature.

Click on “Download Videos from your browser” on the experimental feature page.

From the page, you can only choose one feature to test at moment. You can not test two new features from the page at the same time.

Then visit the streaming site homepage and play any video you want to download. A download button will appear at the bottom of the video next to the share button.

Click on the download button to download the video.

When the video downloads, it will be available in the “Download Section” in the watch later menu.
