Do you know that you can send WhatsApp messages on both iOS and Android phones without typing thanks to the advanced voice recognition support?

To send WhatsApp messages without typing, users need to change some settings in the app. It is different to voice notes that users send on the messaging app as most of us know about voice notes.

Sending messages without typing is very helpful in situations when users are not able to physically use their smartphones but they are in close proximity to their smartphones and they need to send urgent messages to someone. There is also a feature on both iOS and Android through which you can use the voice assistant to read your WhatsApp messages. To do that you also need to make few changes in the settings and give more permissions.

Back in 2015, Google added a new feature in its Google Assistant through which you can send WhatsApp messages without typing, using your voice. Apple also added this feature to its Siri voice assistant with the release of iOS 10.

Send WhatsApp messages without typing on Android:

No matter what device you are using or what Android version you are on, you need to update your WhatsApp as you must be on the latest version of the app to use this feature. Also, you need to update the Google Assistant app from the play store as you need its latest version too.

Then follow the steps below if you are using an Android device:

Open Settings app.

Navigate Google and tap on it.

Scroll down to the bottom and tap on “Settings for Google App”.

Then tap on “Search Assistant and Voice”.

Navigate “Personal Result” and turn the toggle on.

Now go back and tap on “Google Assistant”, tap on voice match, and enable “Ok Google”. You also need to register your voice by saying “OK Google” or “Hey Google”.

Now just say “Send WhatsApp message to” and the name of the contact using your voice. Then you need to speak what you want to send in a message.

That all the settings you need to activate as you can now send WhatsApp messages on Android using your voice with the help of Google Assistant.

Every time you need to send a message using voice, just say “Ok Google” and then ask Google to perform the action.

Send messages without typing on iOS:

In iOS, you need Apple’s Siri to send messages without typing.

Open settings app, navigate “Siri and Search” and enable Listen for “Hey Siri”.

Next, navigate WhatsApp and allow use with “Ask Siri” to activate the voice assistant option for WhatsApp.

That’s all you need to do. Now you can say “Hey Siri send a WhatsApp message to” and the name of the contact to open voice assistant.

When you speak the message you want to send, the assistant will ask for the confirmation and then you need to say “Yes” to send the message.
