It was long before in 2006 when Microsoft planned to update its Flight Simulator X application for the first time. And now in 2020, Microsoft is all set to bring back its Flight Simulator which gaming enthusiasts will be able to play using Xbox Game Pass, a subscription service. Ever since Microsoft Flight Simulator was showcased at E3 2019, it has surprised everyone with its sheer visual fidelity. And with every feeds about Microsoft Flight Simulator about its new simulator, blows everyone’s minds.
Microsoft Flight Simulator graphics are mind-blowing. Microsoft has not confirmed the date when the Microsoft Flight Simulator will be released. But, it is slated to be released in 2020. According to the development roadmaps posted by Asobo and Microsoft, the Microsoft Flight Simulator is getting a closed beta in July.
Microsoft Flight Simulator
The trailer isn’t quite the representation of the game’s final release but the fidelity and the scales the trailer showcases are enough to catch the eyes of the gaming enthusiasts. The trailer showcases how you can have virtual tourism even if you had zero interest in piloting and have no knowledge about it.
You can fly to any part of the world with Microsoft Flight Simulator. Even though it is virtual, you will see the whole planet is mapped and modeled thoroughly. The Microsoft developers have all-terrain data pulled from the tech giant’s search engine, that is, Bing.
According to the reports, the development team is using a Learning Artificial Intelligence and there are still areas that need to be taken care of, trees and buildings, and traffic in the streets. The development team is using Azure, which is a cloud computing service, which interprets the raw map data and then interprets where to populate and make the scenery appropriate.
The trailer showcases how they have turned a 2D image into a full-blown living, breathing, and accurate representation of real airports. You can use all 37,000 airports. Apart from all this, the game will also implement real-time air traffic. That is insane!
Not only you will be seeing other players in the world, but the Microsoft Flight Simulator will also simulate real-time air traffic around the world. Real-time air traffic means that within the game while flying across the country, you will also be able to see or spot a flight that is happening in real life.
The Microsoft Flight Simulator will also have Seasonal weather
Microsoft stated that there will be seasonal weather in the game to give real-life depiction. There will be clouds casting shadows over the landscape and cold and warm fronts, creating rains and storms. As in real-life storms affect plane’s handling, in the game with an aerodynamics simulation that runs up to 1000 surfaces simultaneously, will depict how hard and frighteningly it is to fly a plane under such circumstances.
Since the game is all based on real-life representation, it will use real-world weather data to simulate its weather systems in the game. If you are flying to Washington DC and it’s raining there in real-life, then it will be raining in Microsoft Flight Simulator as well.
The weather date firm Meteoblue powers will be responsible for those weather models.
Microsoft has partnered with the company, leveraging in prediction and historical records. The wind speed, temperature, humidity, pressure, and all the other data will be factored into the simulation, visualizing the climate in correspondence to aerodynamics. You will also see a seasonal rotation from summers to winters and a day-night cycle.
VR Support
The head of Microsoft Flight Simulator, Jorg Neuman stated that VR at launch can’t be guaranteed. The development team is currently working on its implementation.
System Requirements
With a ton of fidelity and scale, there is no doubt that it will be a mind-blowing game. You will need a substantial machine to run the game smoothly as it is in 4K. Let’s see the recommended system specs.
CPU: Ryzen 5 1500X / Intel i%-8400
GPU: Radeon RX 590 / Nvidia GTX 970
VRAM: 4GB
RAM: 16GB
HDD: 150GB
Bandwidth: 20Mbps
Multiplayer Mode
As discussed by Microsoft, there will be various technologies to ensure Multiplayer handles which also includes smooth flight animations. The game servers will automatically get optimized to show planes with 200 km, limited to the 50 closest planes.
Support Mods
The game will support mods from release. It will be bolstering its broader efforts to embrace the community-created content. As stated by the head of Microsoft Flight Simulator, they aim to provide one-click installations for a seamless experience for various content.
