The much-anticipated Season 1 update of MultiVersus is finally here. MultiVersus is the electric mash-up of the fighter players, character customization, and corporate IP crossover blended into an even final product. While you must have tried this platform fighting game through it’s latest trial periods, anyone who is diving into it’s official launch version of this game will likely have the same question “Which is the best character in MultiVersus tier?” MultiVersus of Player First games may have soft launched via open beta, but it definitely does not indicate that there is not any meta emerging in season 1.
This game brings out a mix of familiar and new elements in the genre, but at it’s core, it fits the “easy to pick up but difficult to master” ambitions of the developer. This game is worth checking out. It will help you to understand which characters are on the top heading into what is certain to be an unrestrained period for a fighter. So, keeping that in mind, we have put together a list of MultiVersus tier that must see to win in no time. Before diving into further details, it is vital for you to note that everything coming up is based on the opinions of various players who have played and are playing this season 1 and early gameplay impressions.
MultiVersus tier list
Without further ado, we have presented our take on the MultiVersus tier list that looks like this presently.
Tier | Characters |
S | Superman, Batman, Harley Quinn |
A | Bugs Bunny, Jake The Dog, Arya Stark, Finn, Shaggy |
B | Morty, Reindog, Wonder Woman, Steven Universe, Taz, LeBron James |
C | Tom and Jerry, Garnet, Iron Giant |
D | Velma |
Multiversus Tier S
Now let us begin by talking a bit regarding what is the best of the best.
Batman
We know that you might have expected Batman to be the top-tier character in this MultiVersus, but now The Dark Knight is quite strong even after some small nerfs at the beginning of season 1. His strength has been down to his high mortality earned from his Bat-Grapple, which can be repeated and spammed.
Now, when it comes to his specials and attacks, his bombs are great for disrupting enemies, while the Batarang and Bat-slide projectiles can have the ground and air covered when he is not darting about from area to area. Batman has been an absolute beast in the brawls, and we definitely are expecting him to dominate all over this season.
Superman
For obvious reasons, Superman is a wonderful character in MultiVersus, whether he may be a man of steel or not, and he must be the one whom you get to gain insight into in-game. With a series of Special Attacks which take total advantage of the superhuman abilities he boasts, as well as multiple Armored Attacks which do extra damage, it is really safe if we say he can pack a punch when required and lock enemies completely into the maps’ corners.
Passive Ability Superman’s to The Skies! also provides mobility to a great extent than the rest of his peers. Similarly, the locomotive charge of his grants him the extra ability along with those powerful punches. Aerial flexibility of his is where he shines and to make use of it means the difference between flying high and hitting the ground.
Harley Quinn
Harley Quinn, as a character of the Assassin archetype, is built to land hard-hitting blows, also by surprise to take her enemies. She has got access to one Stuffie Bat that can attach to enemies as well as be triggered for detonating, while Harley wishes to grant herself the ultimate regulator over her opponents along with the projectiles that she can place on the ground and throw behind her.
Her base combos also permit you to build up damage quickly and consistently while locking the enemies in place and compelling them to take the mallet swings instead of providing them the space to escape. Harley Quinn’s character has been built to brawl, and the latest buff suggests she is now among the best characters in the MultiVersus, which can completely disrupt and confuse opponents.
Multiversus Tier A
Now, let’s move on to the next. The characters in Tier 1 are decent, but you may lose the game if you do not take the utmost advantage of their strengths.
Finn
Sword in hand, Finn can easily be counted on to charge into battle, so MultiVersus is not any different. He is almost the same as Harley Quinn in that he can deal with many damages in the correct situation, as a character type of an Assassin Archetype.
However, at the beginning of Season 1, his power is brought down a fair bit by a nerf, and he is no longer capable of trapping enemies easily with his backpack attack. Though Finn is strong enough, he does not excel similarly as he could perform initially.
Shaggy
Shaggy is referred to as an epitome of a brawler in MultiVersus. He can throw sandwiches and punches with the best of these, and there is much in his character that makes him bizarre. However, even though he can use his Zoinks Special for enraging himself, he is not the character you can master easily.
Shaggy’s flying kick special is easily abusable and can send the opponents flying, particularly because you can perform various attacks by not touching the ground. His overheads and down attacks can keep the opponents locked in place while he can hit the players in the air with his Power Uppercut Special. There is enough flexibility with Shaggy, and despite some small tweaks at the beginning of Season 1, he is still a character of Tier A.
Arya Stark
If you are in search of someone whom you can depend on to be deadly, anywhere they are, then it is definitely Arya Stark. Attacks of her make the maximum of her sword, Needle, for cutting through defenses and also deal with many damages. Arya is an incredible high-skilled character with a moveset that rewards learning. She can steal the faces of your enemies, stun your enemies by throwing projectiles, teleporting, and dashing around the map to punish enemies and avoid attacks.
In the beginning, she was not strong, particularly in the game, but the huge buff at the beginning of season 1 refers to the fact that she is dominating the meta now, and most likely, you have more than once fallen victim to the sword of hers. However, the high-skill floor prevents her from appearing in the Tier S of the characters. This is because it is difficult to get to grips initially with her.
Jake The Dog
Jake might be an unbelievably strong character of Bruiser. Nevertheless, after the last patch where Finn was included, he did not compete with his peers. Still, he remains one of this game’s best characters.
Once dominating with his capability of keeping enemies infinitely stunned and spam attack, now, when it comes to attacks, Jake has a more mixed approach. Still, we keep him in Tier A. His character has some crucial advantages over the other characters, like being able to break armor and weaken enemies, but in Season 1, his overall attack power is seen to have decreased.
Bugs Bunny
Bugs Bunny has been a menace to MultiVersus’s in and out. This makes him a great character. Bugs Bunny is a character who excels at close range and at a distance. Thanks to being in a Hybrid class, this character is able to surprise enemies.
With the ability to evade enemy attacks easily and the delayed effects of the character’s special ability of Special Delive-Rocket, he can escape danger, thanks to the character’s Bunny Burrow move. However, when Bugs Bunny is in the fray, the character’s basic combos and powerful charged attacks aid him to hold his own in the fight and surprise his enemies. At the beginning of season 1, a nerf made him less dominant in his arena. But, still, he is a strong choice easily.
Multiversus Tier B
Ok, now let’s dive into the rest of the characters. These characters are definitely good, but they need perfect mastery and timing to make the most of it.
LeBron James
The character LeBron James initially made a great impact while he arrived at MultiVersus, but after the beginning of Season 1 and a few weeks, he has not gelled with the present meta.
His basic attacks and combos are quite deadly, with the probability of slinging opponents over the map and then catching them in the hitstun combos when your teammate is wailing on them. But his evasion capabilities of the attacks and his weakness when he is without bail do not make him into our recommendations for the best MultiVersus characters.
Taz
If you hope Taz to be menacing and mean, after a buff and a nerf, his position is somewhere in the middle. This character of Looney Tunes is a character of the Bruiser archetype for definitely a reason. He can hit hard both from a distance and up close, and with ease, he can barrel enough enemies. With his Bottomless Pit Passive Ability, he can turn his enemies into cooked chicken. This ability also helps him to heal.
But his specials and abilities are not as strong as they should be and leave him vulnerable or open to attack. Still, he has some key strengths, but when it comes to the overall roster, these are not strong enough to push him to the top tier.
Steven Universe
With an ability to conjure shields and bubbles, which can be used as additional platforms, this character of Steven Universe is quite an interesting character in the MultiVersus. Right now, this one isn’t in the top tier. They are an awesome Support archetype character that can deflect projectiles with the use of bubbles for trapping enemies, provide some additional armor for allies, and shields to boost the allies.
But the perks are really a tradeoff for all the minimal damage output that Steven has; their maneuverability can also be better. Since the game was launched, there has not been much change noticed in Steven, and his position is in the mid of the pack.
Wonder Woman
Initially, this character of Wonder Woman felt really like an uninspired character because she did not fit into the world of meta. However, a buff in the first season provided her with a bit more of personality in the fights.
Now her buffs and abilities help her in supporting her team, and now her attacks also have become much more powerful, allowing her to fight and support her teams as Tanks can. Still, Wonder Woman cannot carve out her position yet in the roster, but these improvements have been a step towards making the character more viable.
Morty
Though Morty is brand new in the brawler, presently, he does not hold a position within the meta. His broad spectrum of attacks is able to keep you on your toes. None of these lacks a huge punch, that views Morty to be a really robust character.
So, he is sitting exactly in the middle of the list. He is not great, and he is not bad, but you can use him to nab a few solid wins with his character. With some updates, we can see that Morty’s rank has risen, and he has been a more valuable character on the team. But, presently, you must be picking someone else.
Reindog
Reindog is among the most adorable character on the roster. But This is another support character who has gained some nice buffs and has increased his survivability and strength.
Although he is a greater target than some characters, his special attacks prove some incredible and valuable perks such as electrifying the enemies and damaging them repeatedly. Some powerful attacks also allow Reindog to deal with and survive a lot of damage compared to some other support characters.
Tier C
This tier gets into some characters with significant problems in the MultiVersus, thus holding them back from shining.
Iron Giant
The character of Iron Giant welcomes you to the buff group. With Season 1, the hulking machine himself has viewed some pretty nice buff and various little tweaks have risen his power and permitted him to hold his own, despite his obvious lack of mobility.
The mixture of powerful slams and kicks has landed Iron Giant, right now in the mid of the pack but with the subsequent patches, we do definitely wish him to either fall back down or move up this list.
Tom and Jerry
With the characters Tom and Jerry, you receive the perks of getting two at the price of only one. Specializing in some ranged moves, these two are solid characters to select when you struggle to escape attacks in a thick fight. Obviously, this character is a high-skill one when you consider how much Jerry’s placement can help you make the most out of the Special Attacks of Tom.
But needing to bounce the projectiles between these two, Tom and Jerry, and their reliance on specials means, that they do not fit in the present meta really even after some tweaks.
Garnet
Almost the same as Steven, Garnet is quite a wonderful character when you are into Steven Universe. Nevertheless, in MultiVersus, we found them as sluggish Bruiser archetype characters, and the slow movements are holding them back along with the unique Rhythm mechanic.
When you are in search of someone who can hit hard, you can find it here, but you will require to time your dodging quite well when you wish to avoid being hit. Also, the additional buffs she receives from her Rhythm do not fit in the present meta.
Tier D
The characters in tier D are the ones who really must not be played either because of their moveset or maybe the fact that they do have much bigger problems presently.
Velma Dinkley
The first season brought quite a huge nerf in character, which has crippled any strength that she had in this meta.
Almost, now every attack of her has a much longer time of recovery and her specials deliver fewer buffs and debuffs having less grey health, maneuverability, and weakened stacks. So, now she has fallen off the cliff edge, and it will be a bit difficult to get her back to be top-tier support, let alone the top-tier one.
Wrapping Up
Well, we are done with the full tier list of MultiVersus. Of course, we must reiterate that our opinion is based on the gameplay we have experienced so far. Definitely, over time, this is going to be changed. So, you need to check regularly as new tweaks are implemented, and characters are added. If you are a novice, this guide must help you decide whom to check out first.
