In a live broadcast today, Xiaomi’s President Lu Weibing has officially confirmed that the upcoming Redmi K90 Series will include a top-tier variant, the Redmi K90 Pro Max. This marks a significant expansion for the K-series lineup, as it will be the first time Xiaomi introduces a “Pro Max” version under the Redmi flagship series.
According to officials, the Redmi K90 Pro Max will come with a leapfrog upgrade in performance, design, and imaging capabilities compared to its predecessor, the Redmi K80 Pro. The device is expected to deliver flagship-level power at a competitive price point of around 4,000 yuan (approx. $550), positioning it as a serious rival to other premium smartphones in its segment.
Redmi K90 Pro Max: What We Know So Far
Display is one of the major highlights of the smartphone, featuring a large 6.83-inch 120Hz 2K screen. The display will also adopt a 19.5:9 aspect ratio to ensure a modern, cinematic viewing experience, and the inclusion of a large R angle, a reference to more rounded display corners, adds a premium aesthetic to the design.
The K90 Pro Max will boast a powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 processor. The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset is based on TSMC’s 3nm N30 node. The chipset features a 2nd-gen Oryon CPU and an Adreno 840 GPU for gaming and heavy graphics work. As a result, it could hit an AnTuTu score of above 4 million—about 30% higher than the current Snapdragon 8 Elite.
On the imaging front, the K90 Pro Max has a huge upgrade over its predecessor. It is set to feature a powerful triple camera setup. The primary camera is going to be a 50MP 1/1.31 inch Light Hunter 950 main camera, which is also found on the flagship Xiaomi 17. Supporting this main shooter will be a 50MP OV50M Ultrawide camera and a 50MP JN5 periscope sensor, making it Redmi’s first phone with a periscope sensor, designed to deliver enhanced zoom capabilities. Interestingly, Xiaomi is also equipping the front camera with a 50MP OV50M sensor, the same hardware can be found on Xiaomi 17 Series phones.
The battery has always been the plus point of Redmi. The K90 Pro Max won’t be any different. It will boast a massive 7500mAh+ battery capacity with a fast 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging technology.
The other peripheral specifications include an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, an advanced speaker system, IP68/IP69 dust and waterproof certifications, and, for the very first time, a USB 3 Type C port ( possibly USB 3.1 Gen 1).
