REDMI Note 17 India Launch Confirmed for August 6; 8,000mAh Battery Officially Confirmed

Xiaomi’s sub-brand REDMI has officially confirmed that the REDMI Note 17 will launch in India on August 6, which will be the first smartphone from the latest REDMI Note 17 series to arrive in the country. The device was recently introduced in China alongside the REDMI Note 17 Pro, although Xiaomi has not yet announced plans to bring the Pro model to the Indian market.

One of the biggest highlights of the REDMI Note 17 is its massive 8,000mAh battery, which Xiaomi has now confirmed for the Indian variant. The Chinese model also supports 45W wired fast charging and 22.5W reverse wired charging, allowing the phone to charge compatible accessories and other smartphones so we can expect the same from the Indian variant as well.

The REDMI Note 17 is also expected to retain most of the hardware from its Chinese counterpart. This includes a 7-inch 120Hz OLED display, a Snapdragon chipset, and an upgraded software experience. Xiaomi has confirmed that the smartphone will be available through Amazon India, in addition to the brand’s official online store and offline retail channels.

Meanwhile, a recent leak suggests that the REDMI Note 17 5G could start at ₹30,000 for the 6GB + 128GB variant, while the 8GB + 128GB model may be priced at ₹33,000. If the leak proves accurate, it would represent a significant price increase over the REDMI Note 15, which debuted at ₹22,999 earlier this year. The expected price hike shows the rising cost of smartphone components, particularly memory.
