Xiaomi 18 Series Could Launch in India Earlier Than Expected as Xiaomi 18 Ultra Reportedly Cancelled

Xiaomi may be preparing a major shift in its flagship launch strategy. According to Smartprix, the upcoming Xiaomi 18 series could debut in India much earlier than previous generations, reducing the long wait that global users have typically faced after the China launch.

The Xiaomi 18 lineup is expected to make its debut in China in September 2026. The series is likely to include three models: the Xiaomi 18, Xiaomi 18 Pro, and Xiaomi 18 Pro Max. The standard Xiaomi 18 is tipped to feature a compact design, while the Pro and Pro Max variants are expected to offer flagship-grade hardware. Reports also suggest that the Pro Max model could feature a secondary display on the rear.

If the latest information proves accurate, the Xiaomi 18 series could arrive in India as early as December 2026. This would mark a significant change in Xiaomi’s release schedule, as the company has traditionally introduced its flagship devices in India during the first half of the following year. It would also be the first time since the Xiaomi 13 Pro that Xiaomi brings a “Pro” flagship to the Indian market.

As previously leaked, Xiaomi has cancelled the Xiaomi 18 Ultra altogether. This aligns with recent rumors from China suggesting that development of the Ultra model has been halted. Instead, the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max is expected to become the brand’s top flagship for the generation, replacing the Ultra in Xiaomi’s premium portfolio.

However, there may be one limitation for Indian buyers. The leak suggests that Xiaomi could bring only limited quantities of the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max to India. With flagship smartphone prices continuing to rise, Xiaomi may adopt a cautious approach by keeping supply restricted while focusing on broader sales of the standard and Pro models.
