DuckDuckGo Email Protection is Expanding Globally

DuckDuckGo to Automatically Block Google Sign-in Pop-Ups

DuckDuckGo, the privacy-focused web browser, and search engine is now opening it’s Email Protection service for all users around the world.

It’s been in a beta program for a while now and resides in the native browser. When enabled, the DuckDuckGo Email Protection will block all the ad trackers in emails, thereby keeping the users’ privacy intact. Also, the platform is offering free @duck address to users for email forwarding to their primary address.

An Ad-Free Email Forwarding Service

DuckDuckGo has already made it’s name for being the best browser and search engine for private browsing. Now, it’s extending this fame with a new service – Email Protection – an email forwarding service that blocks ad trackers within incoming emails.

This service debuted last year and has been in the Beta phase all this time. DuckDuckGo said it blocked trackers in 85% of all the emails passed through it’s Email Protection through this beta period. Thus, it’s now expanding it to all.

Interested users can get this on all the DuckDuckGo clients. For Android, you should go to Settings and scroll down to find Email Protection. And for desktop users, this service is available as a browser extension on Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Brave.

When enabled, Email Protection will block ad trackers hiding in scripts, media, and even the URLs of an email – safeguarding the users’ privacy. Users are offered a free @duck email address to interact with the emails.

They can choose to receive emails directly on their primary email address or to the connected @duck email address and reply with the same too. DuckDuckGo will rid trackers in either mode.

Also, it intelligently filters out spam and says users can create one email address for each sleazy website they have to deal with if desired. And if they think the @duck account is not able to stop the spam, they can simply deactivate it and start with a fresh one.

At last, it’s upgrading all the HTTP connections in emails to HTTPS automatically for better protection. This is similar to the Smarter Encryption available in DuckDuckGo’s search engine.
