There were some rumors that in 2023 Apple will bring an under-display Touch ID to iPhone but it seems like this is not going to happen until 2025. Apple removed the physical touch ID from iPhone in 2018 when it launched iPhone X with the notch. Popular Apple Analyst Ming Chi Kuo predicted that there will be no under-display touch ID in iPhone until 2025.

While Apple removed touch ID from iPhones, the company added the touch ID on other products. Many predicted that Apple will bring an under-display Touch ID in future iPhones, it seems like the company will take some more time to bring this new technology to it’s smartphones. As per TF International Securities analyst Ming Chi Kuo, the company is not making this new technology available for any iPhone in 2023 and 2024. This new technology might be available for flagship iPhones in 2025. The analyst claims that Apple’s current Face ID technology in iPhones offers the best way to unlock the device which is why the company is not replacing it until 2025.

Recently, Apple also brought a new feature to it’s Face ID which will allow users to unlock their smartphones while wearing a face mask as well and the Face ID solution is the most secure and accurate biometric solution at the moment.

The same analyst previously hinted that the company would bring a Touch ID under the display on iPhone in 2022. However, there are chances that the Cupertino headquartered is exploring more ways to bring a Face ID under the display instead of the notch. Apple is developing a technology to bring the under-display Face ID but this new technology is not ready for this year’s iPhone 14 lineup. As per leaks and rumors, this year we might see a pill + punch hole cut out on iPhone 14 Pro and pro max which houses the face ID mechanism for unlocking the device.
