Google duo is one of the best video calling apps that are available for both Android and iPhone. The app has a simple user interface. To make the best use of the application, I will provide you with some Google duo tips and tricks to make the most of the application.
GOOGLE DUO TIPS AND TRICKS
BLOCKING NUMBERS
Calls that the user is not comfortable receiving can be denied access. Google duo helps its users to block communication from parties they are not interested in receiving.
The application provides the most convenient way to block unnecessary calls. To block the number open the duo app and select the contact of interest. Long press on the contact to be blocked. A display menu will appear on the screen, select the option Block number.
The contact will be blocked automatically. Notification messages will appear once the other person tries to contact.
DUO CALL DISABLE
It’s possible to call other people even though they don’t have Duo call application installed. The use of app preview messages feature enables duo calls even though the other individual does not have the duo call enabled.
To disable these features, Go to Settings open the google option Select the App Review message and switch it off. The feature enables the user to access duo calls from google duo callers only.
DISABLE VIDEO CALLS
This is a very useful tip for the duo calls. There are situations when video calls are not appropriate. For instance, a video call that requires privacy is not needed in some public settings. The user can view the person making the call even before receiving the call.
To disable these features tap the three dots on the top right of the application. A menu with a range of options will appear. Select the option indicated “Knock Knock” and the video will disappear. The feature can be activated by opening the “Knock Knock” feature and select on.
REMOVE RECENT CALLS
This is an important feature when privacy is needed. For instance, when the phone can be accessed by other people other than the user it’s important to remove recent calls to prevent monitoring.
The recent calls appear on the call list or grid after the call has been received or made. To remove a contact long-press the contact and a menu will appear. Select the Remove from a recent contact option. The contact can be accessed from the history option.
MAKING AUDIO CALLS
In many instances, video calls are used to reach out to others in the most convenient way. There are some cases that this feature is inappropriate and can be disabled. On the duo app, there is a tab next to the video tab that enables the user to switch preference. By tapping the option the front camera feed is stopped.
These enable the callers to receive voice calls other than video calls. It’s possible to make a voice message by swiping down and recording the message. This feature is important when the other person is inaccessible.
PICTURE -IN -PICTURE FEATURE
Multi tasking while making a video call is common in busy daily activities. This is possible by the use of duo calls by minimizing the caller and using other applications on the phone while still on the call.
To enable these features long-press the home button during the ongoing video call. The video call will be minimized as a floating window in a corner of the screen and can be adjusted to the corner preferable to make access to other phone software.
DOWNLOAD CALL HISTORY
In many cases, access to call history is needed. These enable the user to track the phone video calls from different users for reference reasons. If one wants to download Duo call History open the duo app and tap the three-dot icon at the top right corner.
On the menu that appears to select the Help & feedback option. On the next screen tap the three-dot icon and select the option indicated Export call History. The call log will be downloaded to choose the directory that the download is stored.
CHANGE PHONE NUMBER ON GOOGLE DUO
Just like any other video calling application, Google duo also enables its users to change their phone number. But, to delete the phone number and add another phone number, you would have to delete the previous account you created with Google duo.
Once you delete the previously made account, you can register for a new account with another phone number.
PRESERVE YOUR MEMORIES
Google duo has this feature rolling out that allows a user to snap a picture while they are on a video call. It’s not a screenshot, but an actual picture. Google duo, with this feature, enables the users to preserve their memory in the best possible way.
SEND AR MESSAGES
The app also enables users to send text messages. The app has incorporated the feature of AR effects recently. Just to show what exactly I mean by AR effects, see the below video.
USE LOW LIGHT MODE
With its latest update, Google has come up with low light mode for its users. This feature enables a user to see the other user more clearly as the lighting adjusts according to the surroundings.
