World of War DPS rankings

The DPS, or Damage Per Second, in World of Warcraft (WOW), is one of the reasons people adore this game. Their DPS meters have skyrocketed for mastering the class. The finest DPS classes are always in demand by the players. WOW received an expansion on November 28, 2022 – Dragonflight. Also, a new patch, besides the grey and white transmogs and the Trading Posts, were added, which caused several changes and altered the tier list. So, which classes can you expect to top the DPS charts easily and which class will prevent you from clearing even the simplest of trash mobs, Mythic+runs? Even though we have collated a World of War DPS rankings list, it shouldn’t be considered conclusive as the game developers are always balancing the game and this list is likely to change.

We have considered certain factors to create this DPS ranking list, including utility usage, Mythic+damage, difficulty level and raid damage. The DPS on the tier list is mentioned below in five levels:

  • S+-Tier: The perfect DPS in the game, considering the current metagame.
  • S-Tier: DPS that are incredible and excellent for all types of situations the player faces.
  • A-Tier: DPS that can balance the team if it lacks the best.
  • B-Tier: They are just OK but they should be replaced by better ones.
  • C-Tier: They must be avoided and used only as an emergency if the player has no other DPS.
  • D-Tier: This is the poorest class of DPS

Here is the Ultimate World of War DPS Rankings:

S+Tier

Havoc Demon Hunter – Havoc Demon Hunters are from Shadowlands and they are very lucky as the complete spec was superb when the talent trees were introduced to the game. With almost no changes in Patch 10.0.5, Havoc Demon Hunters are at the top of the DPS tier ranking.

Initially, Havoc Demon Hunters had excessive limitations because when it came to their talents, they could not locate their function and identity in various scenarios. However, Havoc Demon Hunters now have a tool in their kit for almost all types of situations and it scales perfectly with their stats. The only disadvantage is that they require sacrificing some spells to up the damage levels.

S-tier

  • Demonology Warlock
  • Windwalker Monk

Demonology Warlocks can output 85,500 damage per second and are among the best ranges DPS class players can play on the Dragonflight Patch 10.0.5. They easily outdo almost all classes in a PvE environment, as they have short cooldowns and on-demand bursts. They also offer advantages such as battle resurrection, summoning, healthstones and they can survive longer because of their strong defense.

Windwalker Monks have never had to worry about securing a spot in the Mythic+ dungeons or raids as they have a powerful damage output – cleaves, single-target damage and AoE. The game developers have worked on all the rogue specs of the Windwalker Monks, giving them a competitive balance.

A-tier

  • Enhancement Shaman
  • Outlaw Rogue
  • Frost Mage
  • Unholy Death Knight
  • Shadow Priest
  • Subtlety Rogue
  • Fury Warrior

When Dragonflight was first introduced, Enhancement Shamans were neither in PvE content nor DPS. However, after the expansion, the players optimize their builds, and Enhancement Shamans are mostly picked for Mythic+ content. The only reason Enhancement Shamans did not make it to the S-tier is that they are not better than Demonology Warlords and Windwalker Monks. Remember, newbies require some time to master them as they take the time to learn about them.

Patch 10.0.05 brought with them several fixes and buffs for the Shadow Priests. They are undoubtedly one of the best classes for Mythic+ dungeons as they offer AoE and single-target damage in Mass Dispells and Power Infusion, not to forget survivability with Fade and Dispersion.

Assassination and Outlaw Rogues are now in a higher position after the pre-patch and Patch 10.0 as they give strong damage output at two and three-minute cooldowns. If the damage stays unaffected, this has guaranteed them a spot in Mythic+ dungeons and raids. The hotfixes have nerfed them somewhat, but they are important DPS to take to raids and Mythic+.

After being an unpopular choice of DPS initially, the Frost Mages have gained popularity. They are now a good choice for PvE content as they offer Timewarp, CC, kitting and strong burst potential.

Unholy Death Knight has received a total rework. The talent tree is versatile and allows players to opt for various builds, especially for single-target bursts and AoE.

B-tier

  • Balance Druid
  • Assassination Rogue
  • Feral Druid
  • Arms Warrior
  • Destruction Warlock
  • Devastation Evoker
  • Arcane Mage
  • Beast Mastery Hunter
  • Marksmanship Hunter

The B-tier DP offers average performance. They offer some utility but not like the Demonology Warlocks and Windwalker Monks. They require additional tools to succeed, such as Hunters who are anxious for Neltharax, the Enemy of the Sky.

Balance Druids and Feral are slightly better in this class of DPS, considering their damage output potential, versatility and other tools allow them to circumvent some mechanics.

Players shouldn’t be afraid to pick these classes as they can be valuable. However, you must experiment with their gear and builds to find the playstyle that best suits you. Once you get comfortable, you can easily complete the game without facing much problems.

C-tier

  • Retribution Paladin
  • Elemental Shaman

Retributions Paladins are problematic as they can hardly stay alive in raids and Mythic+ dungeons. But some changes are scheduled for Retribution Paladin in Patch 10.0.7, which may make them better.

Elemental Shamans don’t offer much when it comes to DPS. They can be said to be in a lackluster state and because of this, the player tends to waste talent points to acquire spells such as Stormkeeper. Like Retribution Paladins, Elemental Shamans may perform better with the next patch.

D tier

  • Frost Death Knight
  • Survival Hunter
  • Affliction Warlock

The below-average DPS output of the Affliction Warlock doesn’t make it exciting for the player to use it. Frost Knights offer just 73,600 Damage Per Second output and are last on the list. Players rather pick Unholy and get the same utility and better damage output. Frost Knight doesn’t offer any use. Path 10.0.7 may change it – who knows, it may even be on top of the charts.

For now, this is the World of War DPS rankings, but the list may change with new patches coming in.
