Call of Duty: Vanguard is a first-person shooter video game, developed by Sledgehammer Games and published by Activision. While the title was launched in November 2021, beta players are having issues with the Latency Variation in Call of Duty Vanguard. If you also have the same problem, make sure to follow this troubleshooting guide.
This can negatively impact gameplay when there is a noticeable change in the latency. The problem appears whenever a player’s ping is not stable enough and moves between low and high. Obviously there are some issues like game stuttering, broken packets, etc. So it is necessary to balance the ping speed of the connected server to get a stable and lag-free gaming experience.
How to Fix Latency Variation in Call of Duty Vanguard
Solution 1: Check your Internet Connection
Slow or unstable networks can also cause Latency Variation in Call of Duty Vanguard. To confirm this, run a speed test on your network online to measure your network’s current upload and download bandwidth. If the test results show that your network has problems, then follow the steps listed down below:-
Step 1: Restart the modem or router to refresh the connection with the ISP’s servers.
Step 2: Unplug your router from the outlet and wait 5-10 seconds before plugging it back in.
Step 3: Once done, run the test again on your network to check if the problem is resolved.
Step 4: If the problem persists, before contacting your service provider, check the below-mentioned solution. If that doesn’t work, then ask your Internet Service Provider to repair their service.
Solution 2: Power Cycle your Router
Well, before contacting your Internet Service Provider, you can try a little on your part to fix this problem. You can restart your modem and router to try to resolve the network problem. Check the below-listed steps to power cycle your router:-
Step 1: Long press the power button on your router or modem to turn it off.
Step 2: Next, you just need to unplug all the wires from the router or modem.
Step 3: Now, wait at least 10-20 seconds and plug them in.
Step 4: After that, press the power button and wait for the lights to start flashing again, especially the Internet indicator light.
Step 5: That’s it. Now check your internet speed again. If the network speed is still slow, call your Internet Service Provider and ask them to improve it.
Solution 3: Disable On-demand Texture Streaming
To disable the on-demand texture streaming, follow the steps listed down below:-
Step 1: Just go to Game Settings.
Step 2: Click on Graphics and turn off “Streaming Textures on Demand”.
Step 3: Then, restart your game and your problem should be solved.
Solution 4: Change Graphic Card Settings
Listed below are the settings for AMD and Nvidia graphics card users. Theses settings would help for the best performance. To change graphic card settings for Nvidia Users, follow the steps listed down below:-
Step 1: Open up Nvidia’s Control Panel.
Step 2: Right-click on desktop.
Step 3: Click Nvidia control panel.
Step 4: Click Manage 3D Settings.
Step 5: Program Settings.
Step 6: Find “COD Vanguard”. Now, make the following changes listed down below:-
Change 1: Monitor Tech: G-Sync (If available)
Change 2: Maximum Pre-rendered frames: 2
Change 3: Threaded optimization: On
Change 4: Power Management: Prefer Maximum Performance
Change 5: Texture Filtering – Quality: Performance
Below listed are the changes required for the AMD Users:-
Anti-Aliasing Mode: Use Application settings
Anti-aliasing Method: Multisampling
Morphological Filtering: Off
Anisotropic Filtering Mode: Use application settings
Texture Filtering Quality: Performance
Surface Format Optimization: On
Wait for V-sync: Off
OpenGL Triple Buffering: Off
Shader Cache: AMD optimized
Tesselation Mode: Override application settings
Maximum Tesselation Level: Off
GPU Workload: Graphics

Frame Rate Target Control: Disabled
These settings should be good enough for all of you. This also tends to increase the FPS a bit.
Solution 5: Update Device Drivers
Whenever a new game comes out, especially when it’s an AAA title, Nvidia is always pushing for updates that are optimized to bring out the best performance of it’s graphics cards.
Solution 6: Tone Down Game Settings
The rule of thumb for every game is that if you’re lagging, you should always lower the settings. Play around with the settings a bit, reduce shadows and textures, that should help.
Solution 7: Disable Discord in-game overlay
If you use Discord, I recommend changing a few things. One of those is the discord overlay, it’s not really what you need all the time. It is known to cause FPS related problems. So, to Disable the Hardware Acceleration on Discord, follow the steps listed down below:-
Step 1: Open Discord.
Step 2: Click on User Settings.
Step 3: Appearance.
Step 4: Click on the Hardware Acceleration radio, this will turn it off.
Step 5: Disable Discord in-game Overlay.
Solution 8: Turn off Game Mode & Game Bar for Windows 10
Windows says Game Mode optimizes the entire Windows process, Windows Updates and other Windows related things when running games, if Game Mode is enabled. But that’s not true, the game bar is known to cause FPS related problems. So it’s best to turn it off if you’re not using it, Nvidia’s Shadowplay is best for capturing game clips.
Step 1: Click Start.
Step 2: Then, select Settings.
Step 3: Finally select Gaming.
In the Game Bar, turn off “Record game clips, screenshots and play with Game Bar”. Now go to the Capture tab and set “Record the background while I’m playing a game” to Off. Finally, click on the Game Mode tab and turn it off.
Solution 9: Disable Core-Isolation on Windows 11
Core Isolation is a new feature built into Windows 11 to protect your PC from untrusted applications and drivers. The tradeoff is performance. But this shouldn’t be a problem for anyone who doesn’t download anything from untrusted sites. To disable core-isolation on Windows 11, follow the steps listed down below:-
Step 1: Click on Start Menu button and select settings.
Step 2: Click Privacy and Security..
Step 3: Windows Security.
Step 4: Device Security.
Step 5: Here you will find Core Isolation, click on Core isolation details.
Step 6: On the next screen, you will find a radio button for “Memory Integrity”, just turn it off.
Step 7: You’ve successfully disabled VBS on Windows 11.
Many Reddit users have reported that it significantly improves the performance of many games. We are talking about 20-30 fps improvements immediately.
Solution 10: Enable Game Mode
We’ve noticed huge improvements for the Game Mode on Windows 11. For Windows 10, we recommend disabling both Game Mode and Game Bar, while this option should be enabled on Windows 11 .
To Enable: Just type game mode in search and enable it.
Solution 11: Use Compatibility Settings
Of course, not all games are optimized for the new operating system. This will soon change. Until then, you can use Windows’ built-in compatibility settings. Follow the steps listed down below to disable full screen optimization:-
Step 1: Right click on the app’s exe file
Step 2: Go to properties.
Step 3: Compatibility.
Step 4: Under Compatibility mode, select “Windows 10”.
Step 5: Also click on “disable fullscreen optimizations” checkbox.
Step 6: Click Apply and close the box.
Step 7: One more thing suggested by Reddit users is doing a clean Windows 11 install, rather than upgrading it from Win 10. Also, DX12 optimized games are benefited while older ones are taking a hit.
