The social media giant Facebook introduced a new and interesting feature to their mobile application called 3D photos. It is really a cool feature using which one can capture and share a 3D photos of his own.
Facebook has taken advantage of depth maps using which it can turn simple portrait photos to extraordinary 3D images. However, the feature is only available for selected Apple devices. It includes all the Apple iPhones having dual lens camera like iPhone 7 plus, iPhone 8 plus, iPhone X, iPhone Xs, and the Xs Max.
The cool 3D photo is not supported by any other smartphone. But it will be made available on other popular smartphones equipped with the dual rear camera very soon. Well, that’s a thing of future. But the good thing here is anyone can view the photos you share. It can also be viewed on VR headset.

Before proceeding to the steps make sure you are using the latest version of the Facebook app. If not go to App Store and update to the latest version.
Steps to create and post 3D Photos on Facebook
- First of all open the Facebook app.
- Now click on “What’s on your mind” option.
- Tap on 3D photos.
- Now you will see all the portrait photos present on your phone. Select the one which you like to convert into a 3D image.
- Wait for a few seconds. Facebook app will convert your portrait into a cool 3D photo. Tap on next button to continue.
- Now add a cool caption and hit the share button.
- Done. You have successfully created and shared a cool 3D photo.
