How to connect Logitech keyboard
Most Logitech keyboards on the market come with a unifying receiver. It is a specially designed dongle that can easily connect your Logitech keyboard as well as some other Logitech devices. However, the Logitech unifying software should be downloaded on your computer for the process. It is always advised to keep your keyboard closer to your PC even if you are using a Logitech keyboard.
The pairing process of almost every Logitech keyboard is more or less the same. Here we have mentioned the steps below that you can follow.
Note– We have used the Logitech K230 model in this article to describe the step-by-step process.
Check OS Compatibility
Before doing anything else, you will need to check the OS compatibility of your keyboard. Remember that every model is compatible with certain operating systems, and if your keyboard is not compatible with the OS you are using on your computer, the keyboard cannot run on your computer.
The Logitech K230 model is compatible with Windows, Chrome OS, and Linux. There are also some other Logitech models that can be compatible with Mac OS, iOS, and Android. You have to understand your preferences well and you need to check whether the Logitech model is perfect for your operating system or not.
You can check which operating system your model supports from the package box or on the internet.
Insert Batteries
Batteries are extremely important for your keyboard as you cannot operate your keyboard without batteries. The location where you need to insert the battery can vary depending on your model. For most Logitech models, the battery holder is on the back side of the device. Logitech K230 has a battery holder on the front left side of the device.
Once you are done finding the battery holder for your keyboard, you will need to find out whether your keyboard supports AA or AAA batteries.
To insert new batteries or to replace the old ones:-
- You’ll need to remove the battery cover. With Logitech k230, you need to press the cover and slide it downwards to open it. The process of removing the cover can change depending on the device or model you are using.
- Now, set the first battery in a way that it’s positive end can properly match the positive side of the battery holder.
- Do the same with the negative end.
- Once you are done inserting batteries in both ports, close the battery cover.
- If you are using Logitech K230, place the cover properly and push it upwards to close it.
Note– Some wireless Logitech keyboards come with rechargeable batteries. These batteries can be charged easily using a USB-C or USB-B charger, depending on the device’s charging port.
Connect Logitech Unifying Receiver to Your PC
- In the next step, you need to use the unifying receiver on your keyboard. On most Logitech models, it can be found near the batteries. Talking about Logitech K230, you can find the dongle holder at the right side of the keyboard.
- Now, unplug the receiver and insert that into one of the empty USB ports you have on your computer.
Note– If you have mistakenly lost the unifying receiver of your model, you can use another Logitech device that properly supports it. Make sure to have the Logitech Unifying Software to get assistance with adding or removing the devices. It will allow you to disconnect your wireless keyboard from the old receiver and connect to the new one without any hazards.
If your unifying receiver is somehow unable to detect your device, here we have mentioned how you can fix the issue on Windows 10 or 11. Follow the steps mentioned below to fix it:-
- First, turn on your keyboard using the switch that will allow you to do so. On some models, you will have a power button, but when we are talking about the K230, you will need to do that by using the slider. You’ll easily find the power slider an the bottom part of the device. Some devices can also have it on the front face of the keyboard.
- Now, slide down the slider or slide it sidewise. If you are using a model with a power button, turn on your keyboard using that.
- Now, check whether your device is successfully paired or not.
Launch the text editor just like the notepad and start typing anything. If you can see what you are inputting from your keyboard on your computer screen, it means that the keyboard is successfully set up, and you’re done.
