Apple has made life an easy affair for people who wanted their technology to be simple yet very attractive. The tech giant has been making strides into making the life of its users easier by providing some very cool applications. One of those apps is iBooks, which is essentially an eBook store. You can download and read books from the iBookstore in the application.
Reading Books
If you are into reading books, you can use the iBooks app of Apple. For using it, you should know your iBooks login details. If it’s the first time for you, it’s your Apple ID only, which becomes your login info. So if you want to read a book inside the iBooks, you just have to tap on the icon or the cover of the book that appears when you open the application. For turning pages, you can either swipe left for going ahead or swipe right for going back. These are just the basics of the application. But there are more things to do when you are using the application.
Changing Fonts
Some people have a very particular taste in choosing fonts. You get default font settings when you open the application. But if you want to change it to your taste, you can do that as well. Here is how you can do it. When you open a book, you will find an option – ‘aA’ at the top. Tap on it and then a drop-down menu will appear. On it, click on Fonts. Then simply choose the font of your liking. As soon as you change the font settings, the font will change in the book you are reading. You can even change the size of the font. If the words appear too large or too small to you, then you can go back to the same drop-down menu and tap on the smaller font option that you have on the top of the menu, right below the brightness settings.
Changing Colors
If you want to change the background color of the book you are reading, then you can do that as well. Some of us feel the default settings of the background color is not suitable for us and puts a lot of strain back into our eyes. So if you are one of these people, you can change the background color by again tapping on the – ‘aA’ icon. You will find four colorful circles right below the font settings. These are the colors that you can use. Just tap on any one of them, and you will be all set. The four colors that you are made available with are – White, Sepia, Grey, and also a Night Theme. You can also switch on the toggle of the night theme to read in a very dark environment where you are not getting a lot of light.
Brightness
You can also adjust your brightness by changing the brightness settings again from tapping on the – ‘aA’ settings. There is also an option of using auto-brightness in case you want don’t want to interfere with the brightness. But if you feel that auto-brightness isn’t the best way to go for you, you can also adjust it manually yourself.
iBooks Author
If you are an aspiring author and need a medium to publish your book, you can also download the iBooks Author app. It is a platform by Apple for letting the author in you find a stage to sell your book. Of course, you can also make the cost of your book free if you want. All of the copyrights are reserved with you. The books which are published on iBooks Author are in the format of .ibooks. If you want to sell your book in other formats, you can do it by converting it into another format, such as PDF or EPUB.
Other Features
There are more features of the application that you should know about. In case you don’t understand some words, don’t worry, you won’t have to open the dictionary at every turn. You can just select the word and the app will show you its meaning. Another feature that you can use is that you can also highlight some lines or words which you feel are important. In addition to all of this, you can also use the bookmarks feature of the application. If you are someone who can’t remember the page they left their book on, don’t worry, there is an automatic bookmark feature that resumes the book right from the page you left it the last time. One more thing which you can do is that you can also create a series of collections under different categories if you want.
iBookStore
iBookstore is a store from where you can download or purchase books for the iBooks application for you to read. There are a lot of options from some of the bestsellers as well. If you want, you can also search for free eBooks inside the store and download them. iBookstore is a pretty wide collection of books, so there is a chance that the book you are searching for will be available for you. Once you have downloaded the book or purchased the book, it will always show in your iBooks application.
