Call blocking is a useful feature available on Android phones. The feature has now been made available by most smartphone manufacturers. It can be used to block marketing calls or people with whom one doesn’t wish to speak for any personal reasons. The steps to block a number can be different for different phones. But what if you have been blocked by someone? You have been trying to get through to them but are unable to connect with them. Is there a way to know if you have been blocked? The person who has been blocked does not get alerts or messages saying their number has been blocked. So, how to know if someone blocked your number on Android? Keep reading to find out if you have been blocked by someone.
Call the Contact Whom You Have Been Unable to Connect With
Use your smartphone to make a call and take note of what happens when you are trying to connect.
Instead of the regular rings that we usually get when calling a contact, you get to hear just a single ring, and the call disconnects or gets diverted to their voicemail. However, this weird ring has been happening only with the number that you are trying to get through (the number that might have blocked your number) while you are able to connect to other numbers without any issues.
Single ring disconnection or abruptly being diverted to voicemail are indicators of a blocked phone number.
Nevertheless, you must also take into account other likelihoods such as the contact’s phone being turned off for some personal reason. Another possible reason could be that the contact has temporarily set ‘All the Calls’ to be diverted to their voice mail directly for some time. You can wait for a couple of hours and try calling your contact again.
Check by Sending a Text Message
If someone has blocked your number on their call list, then you will still be able to send them text messages from your Android phone. You can try sending them a text message to see if you get a reply.
Single grey tick on a message means the message has been sent from your phone, double grey tick means the person to whom you sent the message has received it, and double blue tick means the person has read it.
However, if the person you are trying to contact has already blocked you on the messages app or blocks you later after seeing your text message, then even though you will be able to send them messages, they will not receive them. You will find a single grey tick on the message.
Try Calling or Messaging through other Chat Apps that you Use
You can also try making an internet call through other chat apps that you use like Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, Snap Chat, etc. You can either call them or message them to check if you have really been blocked by them or there has been an issue with their phone.
Use a Different Number to Check
Try calling from a different number that the person you are trying to contact is not familiar with(use a friend’s number) to see if you are getting the same type of one ring. If you get through the contact you are trying to connect, then you know that your number has been blocked by the person.
Follow the above indications to determine if your number has been blocked by a contact.
